What a beautiful cathartic moment. The algorithm served this to me right now: my day off and deeply mourning the loss of my 2 year old nephew this summer who passed from a drowning. He passed a month after my sister suddenly died. Those first moments after a passing can freeze your motion, so truly - putting your hands to create such beautiful art while grieving is amazing. This piece is stunning.

Wow, thank you Courtney for those kind words. The idea for this popped into my head when staying the night in his final days and feeling helpless. So suddenly I had something tangible that I could do for him, although posthumously. And the thought never went away. It sounds like you also had a rough time this past summer. The sadness aside, times like these always remind me (us) to put as much life as possible into our days, since we cannot control the amount of days in our lives. all the best, Yves

Thank you very much Rodrigo. I´ve shared a lot of happy and cool moments with internet strangers such as yourself, but sometimes you need to share the sad stuff. Because a lot of good stuff has come back from sharing creativity with the world. And i figured this was another step in that direction.

I’ve lost both of my parents. My father past when I was very young. He was a wood worker and I feel connected to him every time I’m working on a project. This was an awesome and well made video!

My condolences for your loss. Thank you for sharing this video, it was really rather interesting (in spite of the subject) to me to watch the process, as I'm starting to dabble in woodworking.

You are welcome, the main goal of my channel is getting people to start making the things they want in life, to provide one of many examples to make your own stuff. And this, although morbid, was one of those things. So I ended up sharing the video for that purpose as well as saying goodbye.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I could see the pain in your eyes. Wishing you all the best. You did something which probably makes him smile on the other side of the veil. I'm sure he was very proud of having raised a loving and skilled son. Have a big old internet hug. Wish I could've done something like that for a friend who died on Dec. 20th last year. I miss him so much.

I am so sorry for your loss. That said, a handmade final resting place for your dad, made lovingly by your own hands, sweat, and blood (yeah, I noticed the bandage) ... his souls will rest peacefully knowing he succeeded in making you a man. Also, the jig to make circular panels, that's a brilliant idea!
@ProjectsandThings3 жыл бұрын
the bandage was indeed needed sir. I ended up cutting my finger badly on the jigsaw ( I was obviously somwhere else with my thoughts). so after a few stitches at the hospital I returned to finish the urn. So I´ll have a scar on my index finger that will forever remind me of that day.

Hi Mary, thank you so much for your comment. It’s very true. The feeling is so strange, its a flow of emotions: sad-angry-confused-better-normal-backtoweird-sad,etc…. Even though it has been more then 6 months I always feel strange when ppl mention my dad or talk about their fathers in general. I still carry his obituary letter in my backpack every day, can’t seem to put it away.
