Making and Taking Tours with Google Earth

The timing of this was perfect as I am starting a unit on natural and man-made landmarks tomorrow. I created a U. S. natural landmark tour as I watched your video. Thanks so much for the great tutorial!

Great video, Eric. You did an excellent job with your step-by-step demo. I'm a retired educator but I work on family history and genealogy projects. I've used Google Maps and Earth as well as Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Photos, and Keep. I've used Maps and Earth to view places of importance in my ancestors and descendants' lives, but I never created a project in Google Earth. Your video inspired me to give it a try and then share with family members. Thank you!

Great show again. I periodically give geath workshops as well. You pretty much cover everything in them. I usually give them super extra student tasks like what is thé shottest flying route from Iceland to new York: horizontal or vertical . No brainer of course bit interesting with the measuring tool. Thanks again

Has the new version of Google Earth removed some of these features? I am not able to add images to my tour like you do in the video. Also, I don't have the sidebar and I'm missing a lot of your icons and features. Thanks for the helpful video. I'd love to use some of these features but don't understand why my GEarth doesn't look like yours.

I was able to follow along up to the point where you discussed sharing. Your video shows the sharing icon. My screen does not have this icon and I can't find it anywhere else on the screen (ie it doesn't look like Google moved it or hid it in a menu somewhere, it looks as if it just doesn't exist. Thoughts and assistance on how to find or otherwise make it appear?

What browser and device are you using? I recorded on a Windows desktop with the Chrome web browser. Not sure if that makes a difference or not though.

@@ericcurts Windows 11 desktop. Chrome Version 112.0.5615.138, which should be the latest version.

@@cm5896 Yes, that is pretty much what I am running. I found a thread on the Google Earth help forums here - support.google.com/earth/thread/79296231/no-share-icon?hl=en - that seems to address this issue with several suggestions. It sounds like in the end their problem was caused by the extension "Adblock Plus". You may want to try temporarily disabling your extensions one by one to see if any of them are causing the issue. The forum post has some other suggestions as well (sharing directly from Drive, clearing cache, etc.)

@@ericcurts Thank you. It looks like the ad blocker was causing the problem. I disabled it and the sharing icon appeared and works. Thanks again.

@@ericcurts My #1 suggestion is to ditch the folksy, meandering dialogue and get to the point as quickly and succinctly as you can.
