I'm children's books illustrator and I've just bought an iPad pro 12.9 and your videos are helping me a lot. I have a MacBook Pro and I've always worked with Corel Painter and I'd like to know if the Procreate is similar to Corel Painter. I've never worked with Ipad before and Procreate. Could you tell me if they are similar? very apprehensive about it. Thank you very much indeed for helping me with your amazing and creative videos. Huge hug. Congratulations!
@ArtandDesign6 жыл бұрын
Wow that's great! My daughter reads a lot of illustrated books... or, well.. I read them to her :) Do you have examples of books that feature your illustrations? I might want to purchase :)... To answer your question: My background is in Photoshop, so I am not familiar with Corel Painter really. But if I draw from my experience with Photoshop, there is a lot that Procreate does better, but some things that it lacks short. Just to give an example, there is no text writing in Procreate. Which kinda illustrates the point of what Procreate is all about (i.e., Drawing). It has no spot removal tool, limited mask capabilities, no drop shadows,... That kinda stuff is all done manually, which isn't really that big of a problem because Procreate is really easy to use and has a great deal of easy to use gestures which make working with it simple and effective. If you get familiar with how to use everything that Procreate has to offer, I'm sure you could fit it into your workflow. Maybe do the illustrations in phase 1, then export them to Corel and finish them off there. Let me know if you have any more questions, I'll be happy to help :)
@fernandoillustrator6 жыл бұрын
Hi Thanks for replying to me soon. You can see my books for children in my webpage www.feilustrador.co.uk if you visit my webpage I'm sure you and your daughter will be liked it a lot. I'm so glad that your daughter is reading reading books and you read them to her. You can not imagine how you help me with your Procreate tutorials because everything is very new for me, both iPad pro 12.9 "as Procreat app. I always see draw using Corel Painter with wacom table and MacBook pro. I'm sure that Procreate will fit into my workflow properly. I've been following all your videos. Thanks so much for everything. =-)

while watching this video I realized that if you were to do a similar collage creation with simpler design techniques, it would be easier for a novice in digital art to understand how you incorporate a photo and Procreate tools. Like; make it opaque and create a collage of textures and images a beginner can digitally try to reproduce. Imitation is excellent for beginners. You do so well at simply explaining actions and effects but I got distracted on the demon etc. (I’d love a video on just your thoughts and how you create your own art. The way you seemingly just “saw” ppl and demons in a couple of brush strokes FanTastiC).

Hello! I'm a little late but what do putting layers under one another do? I'm a complete newbie to these 😓
@ArtandDesign6 жыл бұрын
Think of layers like see-through paper. If you put one above another, it will be on top. You can do some really cool stuff with layers like adding blend modes which affect how the layers interact.

Hi, i just wanna ask if we need to draw everysingle thing on a new layer? Like for a face, do we need to separate each facial feature on each layer?
@ArtandDesign6 жыл бұрын
There is no right or wrong way really... You can do everything on a single layer, that makes it easier to blend everything together. Or you can create a separate layer for each feature, that makes it easier to move things around and apply effects on the specific layers. It really depends on what you are trying to do :)

@ArtandDesign7 жыл бұрын
+Deez Kneez what I normally do is export the picture by clicking "share" (you can see it if you tap on the wrench icon) and saving it to a JPEG on my ipad. Then I open instagram and select the picture from there. However, you can share the file directly from procreate to instagram, but you don't get as many instagram options if you do that. Hope this helps :)
