Fun fact @SteveMorrisEngines , I've been using 12-1 Crank Trigger wheels (w/OEM magnetic sensor) on my Holley EFI motorcycle tunes for years. The issue we do have is Holley doesn't play well with the OEM 24-2 wheel (which is less than 3" diameter) = it consistently looses sync above 9,200 RPM (on engines that need to rev from 10,800 to 12,000+) so we simply cut half of the teeth off of the OEM 24-2 wheel. And another fun fact, I started tuning Holley on Drag Bikes 12+ years ago when the only option/setting Holley had that we could use was "1 pules/fire" (2-teeth) and that actually worked really well on bikes that ran mid to low 7s 1/4 mile (and a Methanol Turbo 3-wheel *Sand Dragster* ) that ran 300Ft in 3-seconds.

Man, I can't WAIT until additive manufacturing truly makes it into mainstream motorsports... The things that can be produced will be WILD! On top of the ease of rapid prototyping and faster iterative design changes, imagine the GEOMETRIES that could be made! No more being limited by having to design around allowing for tooling and machining... Imagine thr wild port designs you could come up with and make a reality. Heck, imagine a SMX that doesn't need side plates to cover the water passages. The possibilities are ENDLESS- not to mention being able to cut a HUGE weight out of parts without compromising strength by being able to print reinforcing structures in some places and leaving voids in others, based on stress and tensile testing the model via software... Look at Czinger's newest supercar, or the 'Hackrod'- generative AI design, in Czinger's case, coupled with additive manifacturing. Aerospace jumped on this bandwagon about a decade ago, and the new stuff coming out is ASTOUNDING- completely AI-designed and printed aerospikes, wing support structures, you name it. I can't wait!

Actually, A demonstration of just what one of your engines can do would be to drive to the East coast to the West coast. Drive back to your shop. With a stop over at a drag strip or ten, on the way! Post EVERYTHING that happens on the trip, good, bad or indefferent! Track et's, milage etc... Don't rotate the earth at the tracksand don't run 85 mph on the highway. Just a non-hammer down leisurly trip for a demonstration! Dyno test prior and a dyno test when the engine return home! Use SEALED engines.... Put the engine in a standard, regular Drag & Drive car, A later Camaro, '98 or so or a regular small tire G body car....

@capnatewr65227 ай бұрын
Hey Steve , those turbos look as though they will fight each other for air. Would you get a better test facing them away from each other?
@AB-80X7 ай бұрын
They are not. They would have to be much, much closer for that to ever be a problem. The airspeed slows down exponentially as you move away from the inlet.
@capnatewr65227 ай бұрын
@@AB-80X I disagree respectfully. I have seen videos where things get sucked into turbos near full rev from like 2 feet away. If the turbos were forward facing I could see your point. The turbos are two vacuums one will inevitably pull more air than the other. You can test this with 2 leaf blowers.
@AB-80X7 ай бұрын
@@capnatewr6522 Can you please elaborate on what you have seen pulled into turbos two feet away and under which conditions? That sounds really strange to me. The latest turbo engine I helped my brother put together is a 555 BBC with twin 91’s. It was on the chassis dyno we had it at 27 psi. That’s a lot of air through 91’s. I can’t think of any othe circumstance where the car was stationary and where anything could get two feet from the turbos. And even then, you still have air from the big cooling fan going over the car. That air is much more likely to blow anything into a turbo than the turbo pulling anything in. When the car sits on the three step at 14 psi there is no air movement even a foot from the inlet. That’s the only other situation I can think of. Then there’s the dyno cell. In that the exhaust fan creates a huge amount of air movement in the room. Leaf blowers? I have a gas powered lead blower, and it needs to fget what, 2-3 inches from something to pull it in - like clothes etc. sorry, but while I may be wrong and with all due respect, your story sounds like that, a story. I cannot poosibly see how a turbo in action can be in a position at high boost where something from the outside won’t affect it. Most times the car will be moving.
@capnatewr65227 ай бұрын
@@AB-80X I would like to add you may not see it but nothing dangling from clothing or jewelry is taught in mechanics for a reason sucked into fans, pulled into belts and pulleys, etc… though you may not see or have seen it doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened.
