I’ve heard everyone down south say to avoid salt but the secret is starting with a small about and going from there. I stopped at 30g because I just wanted a water softener for my bath. I can’t imagine putting 100 grams in my bath, that would definitely attract water and make them soft.

Thanks🤗 In my newest videos I cut out Cream of Tartar due to cost and lowered my Citric Acid and that works as well. The secret I found is to use water as a binder instead of Rubbing alcohol.

Hi, thank you so much for your video. I was also wondering if you knew why a bath bombed cracks and gets a little bumps when you’re in high humidity or any suggestions to tweak the recipe?

As for cracking it means your mix is too wet, lower you binder or you can mix longer before adding the citric acid to dry it out a bit. As for the bumps I’ve only noticed them when I use cornstarch in a recipe where my mix was really damp. You can substitute it for cream of tartar or cut back the amount you are using. Having a dryer mix should fix the bumps also using a fine grade citric acid or grinding down the citric acid makes for smoother bath bombs as well. Hope this helps💕

I was informed by my Attorney-CPA that I would need FDA approval on that batch because adding epsom salt along with any essential oils takes them from cosmetic to drug or aromatherapy. I will most likely have them available by summer once every is in place.😊

I have never heard that. I think maybe your attorney doesn’t understand the full nature of your product. I was lead to believe that it was how you labeled that dictated what you were selling

@@SeaStarSoap - It looks like that site references Epsom salts being used as a laxative, which would make it a drug. Since you are making bath bombs, it wouldn't be used for drug purposes.

thanks for the beautiful demo. I live in very high humidity area and want to make bath bombs. i want to try this recipe but in small trial batch of 100-200g initially. Can you give the recipe in percent form for that? it will be really helpful. Also, for the blending can i use a hand blender? Also one point i am not clear, at which point you have added in the water? directly to the wet ingredients mix ?

Hi subhraneel! I add the water to the baking Soda before I add the dry ingredients. I have not tried a hand blender. In my newer videos I stopped using a mixer to show this can be done by hand and it’s faster. Wholesale supplies plus has a calculator that converts into percentages and also one that does sizes. Loved your video, I'm interested in trying this recipe. How can I substitute SLSA and alcohol?

Leave out the alcohol and sprits with distilled water at the end while citric acid is mixing as needed. SLSA is a foaming agent, in my new recipes I sub with Coconut milk powder or you can just leave it out without the substitution. Just remember to readjust your fragrance oil for the new amount of weight of batch.

What temp is your oven on? I live in kentucky and the humidity sits around 60-75 percent on average. My last couple batches totally exploded while drying. I was reading your comments and appreciate the info about the fda regulating bath salts. I wonder would Himalayan and sea salts fall under that as well?

I turn oven on 170(lowest setting) then shut it off after it pre heats, the purpose of this is to get the humidity trapped in the oven out. The issue might be when your making your mix. I have the AC at 65 when making bath bombs. I made my fall bath bombs with Himalayan salt, but I was advised not to use certain words in my description such as relaxing, soothing, aroma, ect. to avoid the drug and cosmetic claim.

Yes you can, if when you make this recipe and your humidity is in a low range 50-60 increase oil amounts by 50% to avoid cracking. For example: light weight oils (12grams x 50%= 18 grams) Don’t forget to mix,mix,mix💕

Cream of Tartar, in my new recipes I don’t use it due to the price increase. Rose Clay or corn starch are good subs or just increase kaolin Clay by 25g

I’m glad I could inspire you. I don’t have these by volume, but you can configure the amount to teaspoon measurements using an online converter. It’s more accurate measuring by the gram, weight and volume are not the same nor cup measurements. Just make sure you mix for an additional 5-10 minutes before adding the salt and citric acid. If mixture doesn’t clump on the side while mixing or seems dry spritz distilled water while it mixes.(only 1 spritz at a time)

Hopefully my measurements won’t be too far off where it affects the results too differently 🥴

I can break it down into percentages. You don’t have to use my exact amounts because I’m using a 2.75 round mold. For example to get my baking soda ratio if use 1000g I’m going to multiply it by 67.3.% It’s always going to be off with volume and cup ratios. I would wait until you can get a gram scale. They have some at the grocery store starting at $15 depending on where you are located. Definitely worth the investment so that the ingredients don’t go to waste.
