This isn't technically AI, or AI is only a small element of it, but since it's often compared: I NEED Joel to revisit Hatsune Miku and/or vocaloid!!! Mainly because the last time he covered it I think he missed out on checking out the producers behind it!! A lot of vocaloid producers are big artists in japan and have even branched out to do work without vocaloid (such as Eve, syudou, Giga, and DECO*27, although a lot of them still also continue to use vocaloid). I think with Miku finally about to debut at Coachella, I think now could be a very interesting time to revisit it! I think looking at vocaloid music is a must, of course the program is definitely interesting, no doubt about that, but I think more people need to see the wonderful music they've made using it!

Its AI because its figuring out how to fit the music in and copy you by listening and smoothing it out, and you can upload your voice for it to use, so this is AI voice tech. Same as the Mark Hammel AI voice, or the Frank Sonatra AI stuff (Boulevard of broken dreams is amazing)

@GreyfauxxGaming Thats not exactly how vocaloids specifically work. I'm not an expert on the finer details so anyone who is can come in and add onto my basic knowledge, but vocaloids are voice banks! Basically all of them are made up of pre recorded audio samples from one person (Saki Fujita is Miku's voice provider!) Now I don't think AI is completely out of the picture, as I think it's used to change these pre recorded samples based on what you tell it to do. But, to my knowledge, vocaloids are more akin to an instrument, bc producers have to fine tune them exactly how they want them. To upload original voice banks with your own or other people's voices, that would be UTAU! Although again even in UTAU it's not as simple as recording yourself singing and letting an AI fix it up. You still would have to put in the work of fine tuning your voice to how you want it.

@@GreyfauxxGaming well, not an expert too but some voices like Synthethizer V one's do have AI integrated, where the program will tune it automatically for you in means to make it sound more "human", but I must say, most producers, popular ones, do opt to tune them manually, as older programs like Vocaloid 4 won't have AI (for obvious reasons, released date was 2014) and much of the voices like Kaito or Meiko won't have a newer voicebank with polished audio recordings (in fact, lastest Kaito voicebank was for vocaloid 3!). Also, you do have programs like Utau (OpenUtau being a better and up to date "clone") where tuning by AI is not an option and you *must* record you're own voicebanks to make it sing (unless you were already using one made by someone else) and then have a really tedious process of aligning the end of every audio recording as well as the begining of each vowel just to make you're crappy voice sound decent enough. Just remember, Vocaloid, ACEstudio, SynthV, CeVIO and similar programs have been a thing since before AI and people used (and still choose) to do it manually! Hope it cleared any confusion ^^

Seeing the three of you having fun with music again is so satisfying and wholesome 💛 I'm not sure what to think about this whole AI thing yet. I mean, the vocals still sound a lil bit un-human, or maybe there's just so much more space for editing, using effects and making them sound more human-like. Also, I don't see them taking over and fully replacing human vocals either, at least not yet. For instance, you can clearly hear the difference between Joel's real voice and the AI version. At the same time, if I'd hear a tune with only AI vocals in a shopping mall or just playing somewhere in the background, I guess it could actually fool me into thinking they're real. On the other hand, it's awesome to have all this AI stuff to experiment and have fun with, try out and learn different ways to use it and just be creative. From my experience, trying out new things never "ruined" anything. It's just a legit way to figure out how things work or why do they work (or don't, haha), so yes, it's pretty much a good tool to use to your advantage.

I have recently discovered music ai generation and am thrilled with the vocal quality it gives me. I can't and don't want to sing my original lyrics / songs, ai assisted or not. I love the fact I can now play Bernie Taupin role and hand my lyrics over to the capable music and performance creation ai factory. It produces credible vocals and performances in any of the several styles I have tried. Soft rock. Hard rock. Indie. Swing. My favorite is an Abba-like song. It also did a great job on coming up with a great kids song for the Christmas kiddy song I wrote. Whatever turns your crank and gets the music better.

This is something that AI is good for, it's essentially vocaloid but better. The controversial AI stuff is replicating other voices (unless used with consent from the source of the voice and used in a creative way, for example, greenhouse - levällään uses chipspeech to generate text to speech voice, and then from what i remember, a mixed AI voice model of the artist and some of their friends combined together, so it's not a copy of an existing voice but a blend of multiple), using AI to generate music, etc.
