in (Part 2) i filmed my First and 2nd Attempts at this Process. (1) our water we use must be soft water. either rain water or distilled water.(2) use charcoal crush on our base and hard wood ash. batch 1 was about 1 5th or 1/4 of our pot.(3) Batch 1 i boiled for an hour. i learnt thru this process we need to simmer our ash lye. on coals or small amounts of flames. donot stir too much. we don't want too many bubbles losing too much Nitrate to evaporation. i Think 25 - 35 is more than enough and will confirm my results from Batch 2 to see if we have a more superior stronger lye Nitrate. Then we need to let our Pot of Ash Water Lye Sit for a Minimum of 36 hrs.The Reason for This is so that the Nitrates release from Our Wood Ash into Our Water.
During this Time we can move onto Boiling our Amadou in Soft Water (Rain Water or Distilled Water) for 30 mins.Next we Beat, stretch, and knead our Amadou. and Then We can Soak our processed kneaded and stretched amadou for 48hrs. then dry.
