Rather then use a straight slot bit on hose clamps, I like a 5/16” socket, it doesn’t slip off.😉

Doug, I highly recommend a set of the hex nut drivers for your drill and get a bit holder, they are rubber and can be attached via exising screws or glued to your drill. You'll be able to hold a number of often used bits right on your drill and the nut drivers will make tightening those hose clamps less annoying with the flat head slipping off.

Even a more slick bermuda sailboat will have difficulty going in to the wind with too much sailt in the bow. Rudder sideways kills the speed and finding a neutral rudder angle is an excellent indicator of how the sail are balanced. Since you have the mizzen you can also tighten that to take pressure of the rudder.

1:45 Tension on the webbing will cause the edge of hose clamps to cut the webbing. A better design would be a line looped/hitched around the batten. As others have mentioned, lashings are probably better. 13:20 Most boats are a lot more balanced with two sails. Steering with the sails and minimizing rudder is usually the most efficient.

I’ve had been clamping the line on with a single hose clamp with very little damage to the line. I doubt there will be any significant problem.

My great grandfather had an interesting test before allowing the "kids" (ie. my grandfather's generation) to take the sailboat further than the view from the house: they had to be able to get out of the bay and back in with the rudder staying on shore. If you can do that, you can balance your sails, you can get out of a lot of sticky situations. I may have missed a bit of the voiceover, why going around the Keys when a storm is coming?

I'm worried about two things I see @1:45 First, the loop you made might fray on the hose clamp strap holding it down over time. Secondly, the sharp little end of the clamp behind the nut could cut into the sail when furling or unfurling. That is all, thank you. I was aslo wondering if you've considered bamboo booms.

@@SVSeekerhose clamps work. :-) what people do not get is that to do this without clamping pressure, you would need to poke a hole in, or weld something onto the batten. Both of those ideas weaken the rig. If you use line to do this, now you have to think about wear and tear a lot more, let alone how much time it takes to put in a clamping knot. If it were me, I might plastic coat the back side of those clamps just for completeness. If I wanted to be fancy, I'd use small stuff and wrap them nice, and lacquer over them. Neither of those things will improve function much, if at all, so you're 100% good, sir.

@maxrun29
@maxrun29 24 күн бұрын
Polysoprin is neosporin with out neomycin4 witch only rely matters if your allergic to it. As far as do not use on ,Moderate to severe injuries Animal bites Puncture wounds Deep wounds Is about it you shouldn't use in On second degree burn, or third. Basically don't get it in your body just on it . From webmd neosporin: "used to prevent and treat minor skin infections caused by small cuts, scrapes, or burns" From goodrx: "Neosporin is used to help prevent skin infections in minor cuts, scrapes, and burns"
@robertn2813
@robertn2813 19 күн бұрын
Actually no . The only difference between Neosporin and Polysporin is that Neosporin is a " triple antobiotic formula " ( bacitracin , neomycin , and polymyxin B ) and Polysporin is a " double antibiotic formula " ( bacitracin , and polymyxin B ) . The only reason to choose Polysporin vs Neosporin is when you have an allergy to neomycin .
