i admire the people who have patience to deal with audacity as a daw and not just as a audio editor

I've been using Audacity for pretty much anthing since 2008. It can be tedious, but it works, and that's enough for me.

Audacity is honestly OP, you can do crazy sound designs… it’s just definitely not user friendly

One can only hope. I make my beats in fl studio then clean them up in audacity.

In a sense, Audacity is much closer to the work with actual tapes: You cut them, and you can apply effects to one tape a t a time, or record several tracks to one tape and apply effects on that then, but you can't go back to changing parts of a tape which is already merged to a "master tape", which is a common feature in modern DAWs. So it forces you to either playn through your project or keep un-effected-backups of the tracks or just use less effects... I use audacity mostly to adjust loudness, filter and merge tracks. For example, I am almost always unhappy with the intro and ending sections of songs by KGLW (i don't care if one is supposed to "listen to the album as a whole"), so i edit those before putting the songs on my mp3 player.

Good stuff bro, I use to use this back in 08 to make some corny music as a teen lol. I still make corny music, but this brought back to memories.
