I wanted to share some of the craft foam techniques I use in my projects!
In this tutorial, we'll cover how to DIY bricks, wood textures, stucco or leather texture, and cobblestone textures out of craft foam. These basic techniques can be used for lots of miniature book nooks and dioramas, and can look really different with different paint jobs!

That foam appears to be most excellent for brick and stone work. Melissa, lay a small baggie of crushed ice on the arthritis pain area of your hand for a while, then switch a hot rice sock pre heated in your microwave. Yes… I saw… me too. You’re precious.

Foam is definitely one of my favs! Haha, I really should use ice more. I just hate cold so much, I want to skip it and go to the hot rice pack!

This is *awesome.* I had no idea I could do that with a heat gun that I already own! I don't even have to buy it!

The heat gun is amazing!! What did you get it for? I'd love to learn some new uses too!

@@MelissaDawnMakes I got it when I accidentally glued the wall of my Painted Lady dollhouse upside down. I used the heat gun to soften the glue up enough that my husband and I (it took both of us) could pull it apart.

@@elizabethworley7073 Ohhhh! Good to know it can soften glue! I'll have to give that a try next time I need to shift something! Hope you got the wall set right!

Wow! What a great job. Wonderful work. Just one little wish:If you would show the European cobble stone technique in real time for just 30 seconds, it would be much more clear than minutes of fast forward.

This is incredible! I struggled with brick walls and air dry clay and this looks so, so, so much easier! I can't wait to try it.

I have a really difficult time with air dry clay too! Especially paper clays. I really want to get better at it some day, but until then, foam is such a life saver, haha! Let me know how it goes for you!

I really enjoy watching your process and how you make these textures! It's amazing how heat transforms the cuts and impressions on the foam into something else!

Thank you soooo much for this! I made a little crate just by looking at yours, but I used one piece of 2 mm for the edges and it looked awful. Suggestions?
@MelissaDawnMakes
@MelissaDawnMakes 3 жыл бұрын
That's so exciting, Kim! What was happening with the edges? did the foam get kind of...ripped looking, or was it a different problem? The ripped look often comes from a less sharp blade; I literally sharpen mine every few 10-15 cuts because the foam dulls it so much!
