With all the beeswax candles, we can only imagine what the old monasteries and cathedrals smelt like. Thanks for showing how you make them.

Thank you so much for this! I want to get into candle making, this helps a lot in getting started. I’ve been making lip balm for a few years now, it smells like mint, tastes like chocolate, and it’s a hit with friends and family. Here’s the recipe, I usually double it….Peppermint Lip Balm, 2 Tbl. Cocoa Butter, 2 Tbl Coconut oil, 1 Tbl Beeswax, 25 drops Peppermint Essential Oils or to preference. Melt beeswax, cocoa butter, and coconut oil, remove from heat, add essential oils, put in desired lip balm containers. Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving! 🦃

Thanks Jim. It can be a bit tricky until you see someone do it. The biggest part is to have enough wax. I don’t make candles every year because it takes a lot of wax and I usually don’t have that much. Thanks for watching.

Great video Darren! We've been making candles this year also. For those metal wick centering tools, I know they work they way you're using them, but if you're stopping your candle pour short because you're worried about the wax hitting that metal centering tool, you can turn them the other way, and you can get more space since the tool will be above the top of the jar instead of down inside it. I need to get me one of those pots with the spigot like you have. That looks like it works great. Candles look great! Thanks for sharing.
@JeromeBeeFarm
@JeromeBeeFarm 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Texas Beek. I was mainly stopping short so I didn't overflow it and get wax on my hand. lol I like those small glass containers, I think I'll just do those in the future. Those other ones are nice, but really expensive. I used up all my wax and didn't really make a lot of candles like I thought I might. I still have 12 more of those big ones and about 12 of the small ones as well left. Hopefully I don't have to coat a lot of foundation this next year. I don't make candles every year, I don't have enough wax. Thanks for watching.

Mug up at Jerome Bee Farm. Good morning, Darren. I'm sippin' coffee, getting the fire in the woodstove going. 32 F at 5am here in New Hampshire. Tis the season for indoor projects here in the northern regions, at least until the snow base builds into a skiable base. I have a small bar mold. Haven't got any candle molds yet. I was looking for a mold for a 1 1/4"x3" tall candle that would fit in an emergency candle lantern without much luck. It may be a DIY project. Thanks for sharing. Happy holidays
@JeromeBeeFarm
@JeromeBeeFarm 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Lamb Brook. Mug up to you as well, having some pumpkin spice latte over here. There's probably a way to make molds out of something and DIY it up. Maybe make a wood one. Those store bought molds are getting really pricey now. You could always just use like 1/2 pint jars too. Thanks for stopping in .

Hi, great video. What size wick would you recommend for hand dipped beeswax candles?
@JeromeBeeFarm
@JeromeBeeFarm 9 ай бұрын
The wick size depends on the candle diameter I believe. Larger candles use larger wicks. The Mann Lake molds have recommend wick sizes in their catalog. You can look on line at those to get an idea of what size you would need. Hope that helps.

Great looking candles. On the glass to stop the wax spots on the side either heat the jar up or cool the wax down a little bit is what I find works best. Won't stop it all the time but a lot of the time. I usually melt the wax and pour quick so the wax doesn't get to hot on me. That also stops the candle from cracking if you ever experience that. Hope yall had a great Thanksgiving

One thing I do is if I'm going to make several candles from the same mold I eun wick from bottom and leave itnattached to the roll, then you just pull it through when you're done and it's set for the next pour. I've found that every time you run the wire through it expands the hole.

I don’t recall. The candle molds will recommend wick size. It’s based on the diameter of the candle. If you look on the Mann Lake site and find the mold, it’s on the mold description what wick to purchase with it. Hope that helps.

Try pulling the wick through the bottom of the mold and don't cut the wick off the spool. Then when you pull your candle out of the mold the wick will actually run itself up through the mold and you snip it off the bottom of the candle and your mold is ready for next time. No need to ever thread the needle again. (only downside is you have to store the mold with the wick which is fine)
@DialedN_07
@DialedN_07 Жыл бұрын
Also, feel free to just pour the wax into the container and then steady the wick afterwards with the metal bar. Now you don't have to worry about a narrow pouring area.
