In this video I am making a Celtic style Copper Cuff Bracelet from a power Cable.
The process on how to make a Celtic Copper Cuff from a power Cable:
I had an old, used power cable that previously had been buried in soil.
I started by stripping the cable, so only the pure copper wires were left. Then I braid a cuff bracelet in Celtic Viking pattern, which I - after heating it - shaped it with a rubber mallet. I were a little wary of this process because the copper wires should end up having a uniform pattern all the way around.
Then I sanded it quite lightly with a hand file - the copper wires gets a slightly square shape by doing that.
When the bracelet were tapped in the right shape and the ends were fused together, I bent it so that it fits my wrist.
I used some of the molten copper to make a nameplate, which I emboss letters in (MP as My Projects) and I subsequently melted the plate on the Cuff Bracelet.
Then I sanded the Celtic Cuff with a multi-grinder - and I polished it - which made it great looking.
I'm pretty happy with the result - I like the rustic Celtic, Viking - I think it' came out to be a quite masculine Copper Cuff Bracelet.
Please give me your feedback in the comment section - it is very nice and important to hear you out, to make new great videos in the near future.

Two things, dip in liver of sulfur to bring some depth to the low spots, buff the high spots to a shine and second dip it in Kleer Coat to seal it. This will keep the shine and leave no stains on skin. Great design, I'm doing this one for sure!

👍💙💯..Absolutely beautiful results!! I just recently started working with the inner (14 gauge) copper from electrical wiring also..and my question is: is there a particular reason you torch the copper all over? Is there a coating on this wire I should be removing?
@my-projects
@my-projects 23 күн бұрын
Thank you very much for your great feedback - no, there is no coating that you have to remove, but when you work with the copper, e.g. if you bend it or knock on it, tensions will appear in the copper, which will make it harder and harder to work with. but if you heat it, it becomes soft again.

Thanks a lot 👍 Yes - I use a pruduct like ProtectaClear to cover my Copper and brass jewelry - my experience is, that it is both a skin safe and anti-tarnish clear coating, that will protect your jewelry from oxidation and fading. Omg it is absolutely gorgeous 😍 and so weighty I can tell looking at it. Quick question if I may. How do you clean of all your polishing pastes of your rotary disks?and quickly if I may. Do you not need solder to fuse copper to copper then? I thought you needed solder for any metal to solder to any metal. I am brand new and only trying to learn I'd really appreciate a reply. Thank you so much . And thank you for sharing. It truly is a work of Art

Thank you very much for your very nice feedback 😊 Unfortunately, I haven't found an effective way to clean my polishing discs - right now I have to replace them when necessary. But please let me know if you find a good solution to this👍 Sometimes I use solder paste mixed with micro metal when I don't need very hard soldering - and then it's easier to clean the residue off - but other times I use traditional flux and solder. In the video I am working on right now, I have to use a very hard and durable solder on copper, so I use the traditional solution there. I hope you can use my answer - and thanks again for your feedback 🤩

@my-projects Hello . A big help thank you for replying. I am needing to join two pieces of copper together only 0.8mm thick. And was wondering how-to. That or maybe some rivets could work I'm always thinking of something I can do. I'm just not sure if I need solder to join to pieces of same material together or if they wouod fuse om there own with a little flux paste only
@my-projects
@my-projects 2 күн бұрын
Hey - Depending on how strong the soldering needs to be, I would use the traditional solution for soldering copper as I mentioned earlier. It is quite difficult to get 2 pieces of copper alone to fuse together - it requires extra heat, completely clean surfaces and then the probability of the copper melting anywhere else than where you want it - will be quite high. Copper is very heat conductive as you probably know ;-)
@kirtandrews1859
@kirtandrews1859 2 күн бұрын
@my-projects OK yes I'm aware copper is a super conductor many a summer I've burned my neck from wearing a copper collar in the sun. Ouch. Ok can you please give me simple simple instructions on how to fuse copper to copper please. I'm quite dim at times and not sure I understand if you don't mind.
@kirtandrews1859
@kirtandrews1859 2 күн бұрын
@my-projects if I have understood correctly I need a solder paste hard. And then add some fine metal as well as flux. 1st step apple flux. 2 head up metal and flux. 3 add solder paste and metal bits heat until solidified.4 then apply ny second copper on top of whole thing and heat slowly both sides to completely solder ?

Can you tell me what the white paste stuff you use on the end is?
@my-projects
@my-projects Жыл бұрын
Yes, I use solder paste - a combination of a powder made up of metal solder particles and sticky flux that has the consistency of putty. The flux not only does its usual job of cleaning the soldering surfaces of impurities and oxidation, but it also provides a temporary adhesive that holds the surface mount components in place. And its easy to use 😉👍

@my-projects
@my-projects 9 ай бұрын
