Evonda Jamison You have to use lye to make soap. No lye=No soap. There is no remaining lye in the soap after it saponifies.

By the way i know you can't share your amounts I just wondered if you have any help at all. Been watching videos like crazy for the last two years. I think it is just fear. But I did for my first project after you made your beautiful CP balls I made some medium cold process red balls for Christmas soap....Smile
@XplosiveCosmetiX10 жыл бұрын
Sheryl Menke Hi Sheryl, Congrats on making your CP soap balls! I am assuming since you made soap balls that you have made a batch of soap before? When reading, it seemed like you had never made a batch of soap yet. For new soapmakers, I suggest to start easy. Don't overwhelm yourself by trying what other soapmakers are doing that have soaped for many of years. You need to start out small and work your way there. I would suggest trying a very simple CP recipe first. Something with just a few ingredients that are cheap and easy to get. There are many of recipes now all over the internet for new soapmakers to try. I also suggest Soaping101's channel. She has so many tutorials and recipes on some of her older videos for new soapmakers. Also I know CP soap can be a little fearful. I do suggest also for anyone who may be a little afraid to try CP soap, is to start out using Glycerin Melt & Pour Soap and then venture on to CP when you get more comfortable. This is what I did, and many others do at first before trying CP. When I first started, I remember saying that I would never make CP soap and would always just make the glycerin melt and pour soaps because I was nervous. But as I got more comfortable, then I was able to try my hands at CP soap and that is all I make anymore because I enjoy it the most. I hope this has helped. This all is just my opinions and how I have learned over the years. We all have our own views and outlooks on how we want to venture on to new things. Only YOU know how you would like to start out and try things the way you want to. Good Luck! Making soap is so much fun! :)

How does cold soap work? What makes it set? I only know about melt and pour :)
@ayanagreen53498 жыл бұрын
It sets by way of the chemical reaction of the oils to the lye. It's called saponification. Melt and pour uses previously saponified soap, this skips the step of handling lye as well as the time needed for curing. Melt and pour soap is easier to use as well as color. However because how it is processed it doesn't usually last as long as a cold or hot processed bar of soap. Hope this helps.

How do u make the gumdrops ?????
@XplosiveCosmetiX10 жыл бұрын
They are just soap balls made out of the CP soap. There are many different ways to make them. You can use up your scraps from scraping your bowls afterwards, end pieces of soap, soap shreds, etc. But I use 2-3 day old soap that is still pliable like playdough, and just roll them up in your hands into balls. Thats it! :)
