I wonder what it feels like to make music with this. I suck at making songs in a regular daw, but I noticed that apps that emulate groove boxes are a lot easier to me. Maybe I should get a real groove box like this to make music, I'm really not sure. The MC 101 seems like a great machine.

The MC-101 is perplexing to me. I love the sounds of the Zencore engine and the new update with sound shaping capabilities is great, but I really, really, really wish they'd add user preset banks to this that you could swap to through simple program changes. I've swapped to the Akai Force since, for composing and sequencing, but would love to use the 101 as a sound unit. Sadly the hassle of having to save "presets" on clips inside projects just makes it so I never use it, despite the awesome tones it can make. Was hoping the SH-4D would be what I wanted, Zencore in box, but it not being true Zencore is a downer for sure. Guess Roland does not want to cannibalize on the Fantom 0 series..

They might not want to cannibalize the Fantom but we're not buying the Fantom anyway! Some people love workstation keyboards but I wouldn't buy one even at $500 so watering down products in hope of an up-sell just means no sale.

Can you do the things you said you'd do in post in the MC-101?

You can do some of it, like add reverb and delay, do some basic EQ, and structure a song, but I wanted to mix in post because I can layer more tracks and effects than the 101 is able to do. Plus, there were some effects like certain reverbs and sidechaining that the 101 can't do.

Tbh ever since on board sound editing was added to the 101, I don't use it much. I'm sure it'll make another appearance at some point though
