A long time ago, 20 years ago, I coated copy paper with a ModgePoge/water solution on both sides. It made the sheets feel like 'onion skin' paper. I was able to then draw on it as well as use thin acrylics with great success. It did gain some translucency, but not truely " clear".

@corneillececil9437. Hi, Sorry for delay in responding. We have been dealing with after effects of hurricane Milton. We definitely want to try this technique. It sounds like it has lots of possibilities. Thanks for the tip! ❤😊Patti and Debbie

Hi Patti & Debbie, I would never have thought to try baking soda! Also saw a comment about using an iron so I may try that. It was the same as your experience for me: the oil bled from my paper in very strange ways. It never felt or looked wet & it bled in odd patterns onto things nearby. I was so disappointed because I just loved the effect so much. I used mineral oil, by the way, because baby oil is a scent that I don’t like. Please stay safe as I just read you are somewhere near the hurricane. I praying you aren’t in its path!!! 🙏❤

@ji4636 Hi, We want to try the iron idea as well. Fortunately we are not in direct path of hurricane but we are in hurricane watch zone and are in a mandatory evacuation zone for storm surge. So we are in the process of packing up and moving to a safer location. We will be fine and thank you for your prayers. ❤😊 Patti and Debbie

I tried the technique with the baby oil and loved the results. Dried mine between white face cloths like you did. No oil left over after having them dry for a day but my images were small don’t know if that makes a difference or not. I’m thinking some baby powder to absorb the oil. Thanks for the update. Stay safe! 🤙🤙

@terrythomson4900 Hi Terry, So happy you tried this technique. Glad you had success with the face cloths. We have some larger images that have been in baking soda for a week. We are going to take them out today and see how that works with removing the excess oil. We will let you know how it turns out. Thanks for your feedback! ❤😊Patti and Debbie

Funny, I watched the first part of this and mentioned the possible oil leakage, and then looked to see if you had a link to the wax paper video and this was listed so watched it. I have tried several methods, and not sure if this has been mentioned in the comments, but found that using clear matte sealer works well. I have an inkjet printer and the ink doesn't run when sprayed. The only downside is having to do spray it outside due to the fumes, if you have a basement, that would work too. Actually gonna be babysitting brothers pups for a week, and he has a basement, although it's supposed to be nice out, but he doesn't have a clothesline.... yeah, my neighbors wonder if I actually know what a clothesline is used for, lol. 😂🤣😂 Hope all worked out during the hurricane, now...off to find the wax paper video, lol. 💜💜💜

@carolm9451 Hi Carol, We also have tried several methods of removing excess oil with no success. We think your tip of using clear matte sealer is the answer. Which brand sealer do you use? Thanks for commenting because we are sure our other viewers will really appreciate this tip as well. ❤😊 p.s. All came out well with the hurricane. No damage or flooding!

I know I'm late to the party, but I tried the mineral oil and was happy with the result. When I saw this video and tested the ones I had made, the were still leaving oil stains on copy paper. I know this sounds crazy, but I figured I had nothing to lose, so I put a little Dawn foam on my fingers and rubbed it over both sides and wiped with a damp cloth. I them put it in a folded piece of printer paper and ironed it until it was dry. The first night in the folded paper (in a heavy book) it left a little residue around the edges, after that no more residue. May not work on every type of paper, but if you can't use it anyway it might be worth a try.

@teresam4786 Wow! this is great! We love the way the oil on the paper looks and are really excited about your solution for getting rid of excess oil. We for sure will be trying this method. Thanks for sharing! We will try it on different kinds of paper and see which works the best. Were your pieces printed on regular printer paper with an inkjet printer? After testing we will do another video with results and give you credit for the suggestion. We know that lots of people will want to try this. Thanks again for sharing! ❤😊 Patti and Debbie

The excess oil needs to be blotted out between porous paper like newspaper or kitchen paper towels. Change the paper as needed until no bleeding is detected. As a final step, rub some good quality baby powder (calcium carbonate), repeat the ironing process and finally brush the powder off. 😊

How about using stamped/or clear plastic as a page/divider and have your oiled tissue/napkin then on the backside again, thin plastic clear/decorated divider, so your protecting your other pages, you could use several oil pages within that section Just a thought
