For making a dolls head Waldorf style you need:
Stuffing wool or wool roving
Doll tricot: neutral and skin tone of your choice
Strong thread
Doll needles (Long thin needles)
Sewing thread in skin tone of your choice
Sewing kit
There are many people making these doll heads in their own style. This is my style, I was trained to make these dolls in the traditional way and changed this up a bit over the years.
This part one of a serie that you can find here;
• Doll making
**************************************************************************************************************************
This video is NOT for children. I use tools made for adults only and that can seriously harm a child if not used properly.
Besides that these dolls contain small parts and are much to fragile to be played with. They are for display only.
I am using general ways to make these dolls and designs by myself only. If they resemble designs by other authors, this
is unconsciously done. I was a doll designer for many years and designed many Waldorf display figures. I was known
under the Dutch name : Atelier het Blauwe Huis. You can find many of my designs on Pinterest.

I didn't realise you could still buy real sheep's wool.i wish I never got rid of my grandmas spinning wheel.i used to collect wool from the sheep left on barbed wire.only small clumps but I used to bring it to grannie after washing it.then she would give me a small brush with wire centre.abit like a dogs brush.like a clump of needles without the point.on her board I would brush away untill it looked like fluff..I was giong to do this just for the dolls hair.just untreated and natural.my welsh roots are starting to appear.i love watching you do anything the old way.its better.just like my grannie would dye some wool with raspberry juice or black berries..even the youngsters want to learn old ways.so your popular .my grannie used to scold me and say all you have in your head is sheep's wool.? Funny now to see your making the dolls head with sheep's wool.ha.love your talent and its so relaxing watching and learning from you.we can't find specially dolls tubing here in UK.i wonder if we can go to the chemist and purchase tubing that you buy to go on your arm or leg.is it similar to your tubing please 🇬🇧

Thank you for watching and yes farmers with sheep would probably love to sell you a fleece. The tubing from the the chemist was always the same, watch for it being 100% cotton and you are fine to use it for doll making.

Beautiful dolls you make! And a great tutorial. You are totally right: the dolls always look a little like their dollmakers, I used to be a Waldorf-school teacher and it was always fun to guess who made this or that doll - and honestly we were right every time 🤗

Thank you so much Maud. I will definitely be attempting to make my first doll soon. I have most of the supplies already as my sister in law gave me some doll making things she had. They have been stored in a bin and I really didn’t know what to do with them. I have a few sheep and their wool, some I sent away to be made into roving, but I have a lot still needing to be processed. You did and amazing job with your wool! You inspire me to get my wool “usable”. Looking forward to the new world of doll making.

Wow Marybeth, you have your own sheep 🥰 how wonderful, that will surely make the dolls extra special. If the weather allows it here, I will do a video (probably June/Juli/August) about how to clean and card wool straight from the sheep. I need two/three days in a row of sunshine and dry conditions and until now we are having just rain and we are still wearing our winter clothes.

@@maudhiemstra same here Maud. Snow, freezing rain, wind and rain....some sunshine ☀️. I have a greenhouse business here near my house, 30 miles from the nearest city, so the sheep are a marketing tool. I demonstrate spinning the wool and kids love to feed them.

With this type of doll making you have to except that your dolls will always look different from everyone else’s. It is like handwriting, everyone has a different grip and handling. You can send pics to my email address. maud@maudmade.com I am looking forward to seeing your dolls. Can I show your makings at the end of one of my video’s, let me know in your email.

Wow❣️ You certainly have patience! So am I correct in assuming that doll making was your job/profession? I had to go look up Waldorf doll history to learn a bit about them; interesting. We have Waldorf & Steiner schools in Australia (not many) but I don't know too many details. I watch your journaling side of things but this was fascinating. Thank you for sharing your talents ❣️
