I purchased my Ricoh/Aficio SG3110DN from Conde last year for the sole purpose of making cheer bows. I combined the use of the printer and heat press with my Silhouette vinyl cutter. I always keep an eye out for good tutorials and discovered that I could use dye sublimation ink and transfer paper on most light colored Siser Glitter Vinyl. So now I can print just about any design on glitter and it makes for a beautiful bow. I can also apply rhinestone designs with the heat press. One thing I would like to say about the Conde company is they keep a close eye on my orders. One time I misordered the size of paper I needed (11X17 instead of the 8.5X14). I got a call from my rep that same morning asking if that was what I really wanted. I was so relieved he called because I was completely out of paper and would have had to wait for what I truly needed.

I am considering buying a Ricoh 3110DN for the purpose of cheer bows using dye sublimation. Do I have to use transfer paper or does sublimation paper transfer? Also if transfer paper is needed, what is the best for the 3110? Thanks!

How expensive are all the materials including the press?
@condesystems10 жыл бұрын
Jeff uses a Ricoh 7100 and a George Knight DC16 in the video. When he takes his show on the road he uses a Ricoh 3110 and a JP14. The Ricoh 3110 can be had with ink for less than $500. The JP12/JP14 are small hobby presses that run $250-450. The bigger Ricoh 7100 with inks is $1500 and the larger presses like the DK20s is $1400. So, get started for less than $1000, all in for $3000. Call us! 800.826.6332

Can you use any Grosgrain ribbon?
@condesystems10 жыл бұрын
Dye sublimation only works with 100% polyester.

Instruction on site say ribbon face down on transfer. Jeff presses face up. Which way gives best results? Just purchased ribbon and going to try this.
@condesystems10 жыл бұрын
We just changed the instructions for you. Both ways work but it is easier to place the ribbon down on the transfer.

I think you mis-understand our video, we do not sell the finished ribbons, we sell the equipment to make them yourself.

I would put the band on the tie-wrap to hold it better to the ribbon. Glue can over time loosen from pulling out of hair.

This is a fabulous new product!! When will the grograin ribbon be available for sale? Is there a template we can use for the pattern portion? Keep up the good work with product innovation & don't forget to share with all of us...
@condesystems10 жыл бұрын
The Ribbons are on sale on our "Award Ribbon" drop down page at dyetrans com. We should have the templates up in partnernet soon.
@amberricketts3529 жыл бұрын
Do y'all have a template yet? I checked partnernet but could not find one.
@condesystems9 жыл бұрын
It's a rectangle, no need for a template, make a rectangle in your art program. Template is 3" wide by 9" rectangle x 4. This gives you 2 panels for the top and 2 panels for the "tails" for a total of 36" in length.

How do you get the stars, etc., to transfer to the ribbon?
@condesystems10 жыл бұрын
Linda Lollis, the ribbon is decorated using Dye Sublimation Transfer. Special (Sawgrass Inks) Sublimation ink is used in a printer and they print out the images needed (reversed) and use a heat press (or iron at 400°F) to meld it to the fabric. Call us if you want to try it! There are smaller equipments that go for under $1000!! Call 800.826.6332

What type of software do you use to design the bow?
@condesystems8 жыл бұрын
+Kim Cowart ......Jeff used Corel, but Photoshop or Photoshop Elements or any graphics design program will do.
@nfinance29 жыл бұрын
You do not have to put your printed designs on opposite sides of the ribbon. That is just going to confuse people. Just press everything on the same side of the ribbon and when you fold over your ends, you will be looking at the front of the bow, not the back as this example. If you know how to properly fold a cheer bow, it will come out correct with even ends and full loops. This was painful to watch as a bow maker but also satisfying knowing not everyone can make a professional grade cheer bow ;)

are those transfer sheet like when you print and heat beacuse im a cheerleader too
@condesystems10 жыл бұрын
Not really, Dye Sub requires special ink and a heat press, the paper is not the main ingredient, the ink is what is important.

Emma DeSantis Sublimation transfer paper is used with dye sublimation inks. It is not a true transfer paper, it does not have emulsion. It's a tray to carry your image to the heat press. We recommend DyeTrans Sublimation paper for most jobs.
