Figuring out a side page flip using items from A Tattered Dream on Etsy for my Artymaze autumn journal (A Touch of Autumn). Excuse the bumbling as I figure out how to make this work the way I'd like! Thanks for crafting with me today!

I'm so glad that you kept the parts where you were processing your dream into reality. We should never be ashamed to create new ways of doing our craft. As for too much embellishment, remember that we are part of the "More is More Movement".

I LOVE THIS!!! And "bumbling" as you say, actually helps reinforce what I am to do. Its fun seeing you working out something new. So thank you Gayle for showing you, and not doing a new video showing you doing it perfectly first time through as others would do. It shows that we can figure stuff out too.

So often we think everyone else just creates with ease, ideas just flow and everything comes together they saw it in their head. HA! Doesn't happen that way for me. So inspiring to watch your process - warts and all. Love how it turned out.

Ohhh Gayle - This is sooo fabulous!!! I really love that you shared your thought process!!! I tend to bumble through my crafting whether it’s my idea or someone else’s lol. I know when I first started making journals, it felt like that all the time so it’s nice few newbies to realise that it doesn’t always make sense straight away, but if you keep at it, you almost always end up with something functional and beautiful at the end!!! I’ve also learnt that it may not necessarily end up the way you initially envisaged but... sometimes it can turn out way better lol!!! I just love what you’ve created!!! No thought process is ever bumbling... just like no question is ever silly!!! That’s how great things happen!!! Big ‘crafty’ hugs, Sharon 🌷💜

I usually watch you just before bed on my iPad but yesterday I was cleaning up in the living room so I thought I would watch your video. I saw my cat, Sammy Jo, by the tv and stopped to watch her. She was mesmerized, or so I thought, by you. She was intently watching your every move although I figured out a bit later that she was probably focused on the lace that you were moving around. I found this out when she looked like she was going to jump up to the tv screen. 😂 Blessings, Winona

Hi Gayle! Well, we got up a little too late for Niagara Falls, so opted instead for a place called Skatneatles, NY. It's a small town at the top of, I think, one of the smallest Finger Lakes. The Finger Lakes are known for their beautiful scenery and wineries, especially during the Fall. And this little town did not disappoint. It looked like something straight off of a Hallmark Card or Norman Rockwell painting. Just a gorgeous place...very clean...with some beautiful and large homes in Victorian, American Craftsman, Dutch Colonial, and Cape Cod styles mainly. Oh, I was just so enchanted by it all. Streets were all decorated with Fall and the leaves all along the lake were at their peak colors! It even had a church right off the water with a nice steeple on it. We also visited a nice winery there and sat and relaxed awhile tasting wine. It was a beautiful place and many of the vines were just abundant with purple grapes. With the Fall colors there and the lake in the background, WOW, what a wonderful place to relax in! I really want to go there again sometime. It would make a really nice place for a retreat, especially for artists. Gayle, that's exactly how I think these things through. Bumbling right along!! Yup! You know, could you make a pocket with the time card on the right side? Having a pocket opening on the right side, you could put a card in that has some lace or something to make like a tab for the page. So, it'll be a small pocket that would have a card that could be pulled out and also be a tab for the page. Just another option for this idea you have, which is a great one! You know, you could also make the library card a flip on the front, too. And yes, girl, you just rub that grunge into that white spot on the envelope! Can't abide by any white spots, you know! LOL Hey, would a small bit of lace,or something, on the top of the library card pocket look good? Or maybe do the entire back with some colored paper or something? Just thinking out loud here. Oh my gosh! I just said that and then, you put the background on! Yeh, Gayle! Just love when bumbling brains come together like that! LOL You know, I do chat with you as you go along, as you do things, not always after. And gosh, that is really lookin' nice. I like it a lot! I just took a peek on Etsy at my notifications, because you said something about turning on notifications a bit ago. I noticed www.etsy.com/shop/EllsieBeLsBookShelf?ref=notif_psffs&section_id=1 was having a sale. I took a few moments to read her profile. And I was surprised to see that she is a mother of 5 children and her husband passed away in Oct 2018. She lives only a few hours from me, too. I really am touched by her story, because my husband was a single Dad for 9 years of 3 kids. He had a tour of duty for the Air Force in Italy during this time, too. This was many years ago for him, but I know how tough it was to do that alone, especially taking 3 kids to a foreign country for 4 years. She says her main income is her Etsy shop. Can you do that well on Etsy to support 5 children? Though, I'm sure she probably has other income as well. I'm thinking you already know who she is, but if not, maybe you could check her out. She has some beautiful digitals on there. Well, my dear, I've been just writing up a storm the past few times. I've been feeling better is probably why, but also just having fun watching and chatting along. Not tired after resting so much on this trip. For me, a new creation always takes a bit of time to put together, too. So, it does my heart good to see you taking some time as well. But once you do one, the next ones are pretty much a cinch! Well, my friend, enjoy your Saturday with your family (son and daughter-in-law, right?) coming in! A big Happy Birthday to your daughter! God Bless! Sue

Yes, I thought I had seen you use her things before, but wasn't exactly sure. Thought I would check. I really get a little emotional when I read a story of a woman with 5 children trying to make it on her own. My husband (my 2nd marriage) had 3 and he said it was tough for him. And my Dad also had a father who passed away when he was 6 (in 1942) and I know it was really tough for him and his 3 siblings, too. Back in those days, my grandmother did work as a head secretary in a lawyer's office. But when she went to ask for a raise, because one of her male charges was making more money than she was, they told her the male charge had a family to support and so, wouldn't give her a raise. And here my grandmother was a single woman with 4 kids. But there was a stigma with my Grandfather's death...he was an alcoholic at a time when alcoholism was not seen as a disease. My uncle once told me they were severely poor and in the small town they lived in...well, let's just say some people put their noses down at them. It really affected my Dad. And then, me and my brother's growing up in an offshoot way. It does come down the generations. So, when I read a story like hers...well, I think about all that and want to just help in any way I can. So, a bit of a story about my family history, but I've seen effects like this in the school system, too. Single parent families really do need a lot of support from the community.

Oh my gosh! I honestly appreciated this tutorial more than you can know because.... I have a kind of spatial dyslexia and can barely cope when I am tired with any fiddly things! It was frustrating to watch until my brain said... Hey, Gayle is drivin' this bus! So then I enjoyed the ride as you showed, modeled... how to think through a problem without just wadding up the whole thing and eating a brownie! lol... However, I was squealin' "No... at least I don't THINK so!" on that second glue event! lolol

Whew, that was a struggle but oh so worth the effort. Loved watching your thought process. Very nice piece to use in the journals. ❤️

I enjoy your videos - even when you bumble. It shows us you're human. Nice project. I like it. I have spent a good amount of time trying to use up my paper scraps. I made about 50 tags, journaling cards, etc.. It doesn't even look like I put a dent in the scraps. I just made more!

I love that you don't edit out your "bumbling". It shows that you don't have to do it exactly right the first time and that's ok, it will work out in the end. I say this just after I went through 3 index cards because I kept messing up cutting the right size ;-}
