Most people who work there just usually describe ourselves as civil servants to strangers - regardless of where in the civil service they work. Yup, civil servant here! I always just say i work for the government to foreigners (or that I’m a civil servant to locals) cos i dont like disclosing details about my job (like its my business, not anyone else’s, what i do for a living). Plus being in the civil service means we *are* bound by codes of conduct etc which kinda affects the way we can conduct ourselves in public spaces.
