Making Geta shoes for my Lin Spirited Away Cosplay!

Despite all this KZbin garbage, I'll still be posting and making videos! So heres another one from me~!
Today I show you how I made shoes, Japanese Geta, for my Lin cosplay from Spirited Away!
I'm in no means an expert in this but I thought I'd give it a shot! ^^;;

Edit: for anyone wondering how comfortable these are, I just walked around a convention in them for 5 hours and not bad at all! :D just take your time going up and down stairs 😅

I just got a new pair of geta to wear with my kimono, but the strap is too tight! I think I'm going to make new straps based after how you made yours. They look very comfortable, and easy too! Cheers to cosplayers for figuring out clever solutions to obscure problems!

Does the varnish make it slick/slippery at all? How long does it take to dry generally? Is there a way to make them water proof or at least resistant?

Holy sweet baby jeeeeezus! Who ever is on that little table saw PLEASE STOP! stop what you’re doing before you loose your freakin fingers! That was the most terrifying use of a table saw I’ve seen in a long time. For the love of god please watch a few videos from a wide range of accomplished woodworkers here on KZbin before you even consider turning on that machine ever again! That was seriously scary. Blade WAY to high! Never cross cut a board the same or less than the length of the blade without a crosscut sled. The push stick goes on the work piece going BETWEEN the fence and the blade. The list goes on. Scared the hell outa me!

question: Im thinking in making a pair for me and i was wondering, did you put some protecting on the teeth sole? I watched a video where they make geta the tradicional way and they mut some rubber or metal plates. did you used something like that?

Princess Allura they're actually not too bad!! I don't think I could walk in them for long periods of time but I'm bringing back up shoes for the convention so it's all good :-)
