tbh Fill doesn´t seem to know a lot about Gr.5 either, or he doesn´t care for the weight limits per displacement, the turbo factor, and in the case of the moonhawk, realism. a 5L engine with turbos comes with a minimum weight of about 1.8 metric tons according to the actual Gr.5 rules set in Fisa Appendix J 1977.

Miramar is perhaps my favorite car in game. Rear wheel drive, fast'ish, NA engine and handles well. It is fun car to drive fast around in Italy :)

It's funny cause also adding a smaller engine is also good for saving weight, it also provides more room for fixing said engine and allows for better center of gravity, which is why the Toms Castrol Supra of the 90s in the JGTC used the 3SGTE 16-Valve DOHC 2.0ltr which was the same engine they used in their WRC Toyota Carolla. The benefit of using the 3SGTE over something like the 2JZ was that the 3SGTE was smaller in size/displacement, but it could offer better center of gravity, lighter, was already a proven engine platform thanks to it being used in the WRC Toyota Carolla, and it wasn't SUPER FREAKING LONG which was the issue with the 2JZ, the 2JZ was just too long with it being an Inline 6, so it couldn't really be tucked away like something like the 3SGTE could be cause the 3SGTE is a 4 Cylinder engine, meaning it could be more centered behind the front wheels rather than sitting practically right on top of them.

Group 5 was replaced with Group B, which was originally a GT class aimed at taming group 5. Group A replaced group 4, but the FIA decided to also allow group B into WRC, where it was most famous.

Hi Fill, I had a recommendation on a project. Remeber that Napier Railton you've made? it's a brilliant mod. I was curious whether you would attempt at potentially making the Napier Bentley, which has the same engine as the Railton but a slightly different varient. It is also based on a few old Bentley chassis. More importantly though it has wider tires and huge disc brakes all round. I think you could make a very fun car. Or maybe the 28.4L Fiat S76 from 1911.

@fillman86 saw in your super GT sunburst video, and when you were doing all the chassis swap and stuff, i noticed that the B piller on the sunburn lines up almost perfectly with the firewall on the scintilla chassis, mid engine sunburst sounds kinda interesting dont ya think.. But i think it would be kinda boring, to swap just the chassis and nothing else, so what i thought was a mid engine sunburst, in the smae vain of the mid engine covet, sorts like spertual sussesor to the MR covet.

To be fair, widening the suspension isn't the best thing, as the point of the widebody was to be able to slap big wide tires they didn't change the position too much widening it

nah, there's geometric reasons as to why widening the footprint of a car helps. If I was to just widen the a-arms then the problem is that the change of geometry would mean that I would have to come up with a bunch of maths on the new extra leverage on the springs

honestly next time you should really first tackle the suspension and then do the body, the suspension on these race cars doesn't seem to far off from factory, so way wide tires and maybe slightly wider suspension would seem more realistic to me, then the body follows function kinda like irl.

As a big fan of the m1 bmw a similar monster to the first car, I can easily tell the physics in this game aren't sim yet. Something is definitely off with the grip curve

be careful of what you're comparing it to. It doesn't have tyre thermals yet, but the devs are working it slowly. Also aero is quite rudimentary, but all the rest of the physics are so much more realistic compared to games like Assetto Corsa, which comparatively is quite simcade without serious mods

@@fillman86 oh yeah I guess I don't really admire assetto corsa 1's force feedback either. But project cars and rfactor 2's tyre models are what I think about on the topic of simulator tyre model. I think rfactor also has chassis flex calculations affecting suspension as well. I need my wheel and computer to really get back to you on that . I made a concept for my own tyre model as well but it isn't simulated. It's a 3d chain reaction dynamic grid map based on cells like a spreadsheet chart with a buoyancy based contact patch. It'll completely ignore the 3d tyre model and have no influence on the visual tyre flex soft body mesh, but it'll work, based on data collected from irl telemetry testing. I'm poor and canceled though. I have been kicked out of society at the moment though. People are trying to force me off the grid. Anticompetitive practices.

Bro continues to act like 1000kg is a heavy car. 1400-1700kg is a normal car my dude. 1100-1400 is light. Under 1100 is SUPER light. Especially if you aren't building something close to Mini Cooper or Smartcar sized and you want it to be safe, especially for racing. A stock MX5 from the 90s is 980-1065kg depending on the year and options. Rally cars aren't even necessarily lighter than stock. Yeah, you full strip the interior and replace all the glass with plastic and whatnot, but once you add in the custom suspension, performance parts, wheels and tires, chassis stiffening, roll cage and other safety devices, and other odds and ends, you only save 50-100kg at most, and is some cases even GAIN weight.

Devs in Beam have already made it easyer, as it turns out development ain't easy. This is why everyone with common sense holds devs on a "godlike" position, the amount of work they do is INSANE to absurd standars. FH5 doesn't count since Microsoft prevents people from modding in order to minimize hackers, wich given how mainstream FH5 is it honestly is a very valid point
