One of the most amazing things I've ever seen. I'm going to make my own hay this year as I'm very tired of paying for it and I can cut my grass with a scythe already just didn't know what to do without a machine to bale it . AMAZING

When I worked on a dairy farm, we wold put up 1200 bales in one day. I'm glad we didn't use that.LOL

Very nice. One suggestion for operation. You should compress the material more often as you're loading it. It'll save your back more and get a better, uniform bale. Just like a mechanized baler.

This would be great in a grid down situation if there were no gas to be had or in very remote region where you have very few animals to take through the winter. But even when machinery is available it is a very hard and wearing job.

This is what you call an artisanal hay bail. Extremely low carbon intensive operation. Very cool. Cute but impossible to replicate. I grew up farming in Snowville UT on 1,285 acres. The whole valley 20 families farmed and ranched is now all owned by Berkshire Hathaway.

I am not liking the link as that version too much material. This one looks like it is using pallet wood, of which I have a lot of. I would love to see these plans. The university has a lot of money to play with and think nothing of a costly version and this one is more in my budget.

3.5 of those bale has the same amount of hay as one standard bale. It makes more sense to buy hay than baling it by hand.
