You can store it in any sealed container at room temperature for up to 12 months. We are getting so many orders for small farms, we are going to start bottling it within the next few weeks. In your case, just pour the pouch into a sealed container. Thanks!

Hi , I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel, I've learnt so much. I would like your help to understand why my goat buck which I recently brought to my farm is not yet interested in any of the does? He was very interested and acted normally at his previous owners place. Much appreciated
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms 2 жыл бұрын
Your does may not be in estrus. Does will only stand for a male when they are in estrus, which is a very small amount of time out of the year. I suspect once they go into estrus you will see a change in his behavior. There are some males which are lame/don’t have interest in the does but since he showed interest at the other farm, I think you should be ok.

You would just have to check and see if it is just beet pulp. It may just be in pellet form. If it’s just beets, you’re fine.

Hi Tim, love your ideas and videos. That being said, I'm a goat lover. If you were to gear this mix you made to fit only goats, what different things would have done. In other words if you had only goats, how would you have prepared it. Secondly, is this mix Idea something that has to be eaten that day and that day only, or is it a food mix that you can store and serve over several days or weeks? Thx so much.
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms 2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Great questions. You can make this mix to meet the needs of your herd or flock. Some people add their free choice mineral to this mix. Some add additional protein like soybeans. If I were making this specifically for goats, I would be inclined to add their free choice mineral directly to the batch. This mix will ferment if left more than a few days. We usually advise making one batch per day. Every evening when I feed, I make the batch for the next day.

Thx, you made my day by writing "great questions." I actually don't have my herd yet. I'm in the process of reading and watching and collecting as much information as I can before I start, and so every time I see an informative video like yours I jot down the information for future use. Thx so much for all you do. I do watch you quite a bit, as I find you a bit contrary to some other goat farmers.

Do you have to feed it all right away? As an example, if I have a sick goat could I store it for a day or two so that I can feed it a little at a time? I just want to make sure before I end up wasting it. Thank you for another awesome video 💚🐐.

Thank you for watching our videos and thanks for the great question. The mixture will ferment after a few days. We would advise just mixing up as much as you need for a few days. We personally mix our batches and let them sit for 24 hours. If you should choose to purchase our feed additive, it can be stored at room temperature in any sealed container for up to 12 months. Thanks!

I read somewhere that sheep should not have copper
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms 9 ай бұрын
Sheep get all the copper they need from the plants they eat. They should not be given supplemental copper in addition to this. For instance, you would not want to give goat or cattle mineral or feed to sheep as it is often high in copper.

What's the perfect age of lamb for matting when its first time
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms 2 жыл бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching our videos. We aren’t as concerned about age as we are weight. 75% of expected adult weight is what we would advise for first time breeding. As an example take the expected adult weight and multiply it by 0.75. This will give you the minimum weight you would want your ewe or doe to be before breeding. A 150 pound adult expected weight would be 112.50 pounds minimum before breeding, so on and so forth. Hopefully this helps.

Thanks so much for this video - I've tried using beet pulp for precisely these reasons in the past and always struggled with my girls just going "meh" even with added molasses so I gave up. I'll give it another try now although I'm not sure how I'll go finding suitable supplements to add here in Australia I might have to get my ditzy mother in law to buy some of your additive and include it in the packages she sends us :D If so, I apologize in advance as she is an annoying customer :P

Is there any concern/risk of bloat introducing this mix, or could i go ahead and just feed the 1-2# right off the bat? My sheep are currently on just hay plus free choice salt, minerals and baking soda; I'd like to give them something else, especially with us heading into the nasty part of winter (which winter hasn't even officially arrived yet) but the commercial feed is just so expensive, plus the whole bloat thing if not introduced gradually enough.
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms 8 ай бұрын
Beet pulp is often considered safer for bloat avoidance in animals compared to other grains due to several reasons: Low Fermentability: Beet pulp ferments more slowly in the rumen compared to grains like corn or barley. This slower fermentation rate reduces the rapid gas production that can lead to bloat. High Fiber Content: Beet pulp is high in fiber, especially soluble fiber, which helps in stabilizing the rumen environment and promotes gradual digestion. Non-Gassy: Unlike some grains, beet pulp does not produce excessive amounts of gas during digestion. Low Starch: The low starch content in beet pulp compared to grains like corn means there's less risk of rapid fermentation, which can lead to acidosis and bloat. Gut Health: Beet pulp can aid in maintaining a healthy gut flora, which is crucial for preventing digestive disturbances like bloat. These factors make beet pulp a safer choice for animals prone to bloat.

Would this work for our nursing ewes and pregnant ewes during the last month of gestation? It seems like after lambing they are so thin and just skinny. I’ve been feeding All stock but I think maybe it’s not enough fat and protein.

Yes. This is a great way to put weigh on your animals. This mixture has a lot of calories (energy) and will help them to put on weight. I would consider offering it in addition to your all flock. You can use the beet pulp itself and add anything you want: molasses, other grains, etc. We really like this mix because it gives you a lot of freedom to personalize it for your flock.

My vet suggested Red Cell for a few of my lambs with anemia. Have you ever used this on your sheep? If so how do you dose it?
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms 2 жыл бұрын
Red cell is very high in copper. We personally do not use it out of fear of copper toxicity. Why on earth would your vet advise using it and then not tell you how to use it. 😒 That’s not very helpful. I would contact your vet and ask him/her how they would like you to proceed. Sorry we couldn’t be of more help.
