The only thing i don't really like about the "painting" dry powder on the outside of the box mould is that the edges always end up kind of fuzzy. I wonder if you mixed a few drops of resin with it to make a really thick "paint" would lead to sharper results

Mixing the color with some UV resin would be the best way to control the edges for that kind of idea.

I've seen people mix mica powders with isopropyl alcohol and use it like a paint. It gets nice sharp lines that way.

TBH the geometry of the symbol I think throw it off to me

I'd guess if you mixed it with resin first you'd have to wait for it to at least part cure before pouring the rest of the resin in, else you risk ruining the design with with pour. So it'd be very time consuming! Isopropyl alcohol would probably be the best bet actually, it dries quickly and it doesn't really matter if a small amount interacts with the resin.

Oookay, so I'm a resin "artist" (memorial jewelry mostly, I make the "stones" out of resin") and it has NEVER OCCURED TO ME to paint the mica powder right on the molds. I have a few non-jewelry molds that I've been wanting to try out and this is such a cool freakin technique. Can't wait to try this!!! Thank you!!

lol i just made spice dice last week, except i used turmeric, lemon pepper, cardamom, red pepper flakes etc. for my husband's twilight cleric who is also the party cook. The vanilla extract one took twice as long to cure......

Love your dice creations but I highly recommend using painters tape or stencils for those dice box patterns. Free handing patterns with a static-y powder is gonna make a mess every time :(

I know you said you did the black and yellow paint for the logo but when you held it up next to the sauce it fit really well with the spices inside so it literally just looks like the sauce in its bottle! Would've taste tested them just to make sure there isn't any spots at the surface where there could be some exposed capsaicin. Would hate to be handling some dice then all of a sudden have burning eye. Seen this mix done before and usually ended with spicy uncured resin, nice luck on the curing.

one idea I had when using hot sauces or other liquids you could maybe try to pour some of the sauce on a baking tray and put it in an oven set on low heat / use a dehydrator to get rid of some of the liquid and have more of a dry maybe powder pigment not sure if it works but maybe worth a try.

At that point t you may as well just dehydrate the peppers and grind them into a powder and just use it like mica powder.

I'm just starting out on making dice and for my 3d model I put my symbol of choice for the highest number on every die, is that weird? I don't see may other people doing it and I was wondering if it was strange to put my symbol on all my dice. (It's a very simple outline of my cats face)

Seeing as you often mention the type of resin you're using, do you have any particular reason as to why you choose x type of resin? Or is it just you trying different types and such?
