OMG! As a tradesman for 30 plus years, I couldn't imagine doing a project like that...Such beautiful work but; SO TEDIOUS...It's great that there are men and women willing to endure the tedium * to me* of such an endeavor... Good health and freedom to you and yours!

You guys are amazingly professionals. If I understood well, all outside edges cut pieces were sent back to be beveled for final installation? Theses doors are stunningly amazing. Congratulations for that artwork! ❤

Die Nägel sehen in der Tat so aus, aber anders ist, dass sie gehärtet sind, sich also am Huf nicht umschlagen lassen.

Hello!A very beautiful product!Could you tell me where you can get acquainted with the technology of such production?It is very interesting to know the materials used in your work.

Very nice work. When the windows were sitting in the pickup truck bed, did I see a protective sheet of glass and some sort of frame around the whole piece? can you tell me about the frame you used, since I assume the frame and protective glass also was installed in the wooden door. Thanks
@davidswanson56692 жыл бұрын
I don’t know the answer exactly but I can tell that the extra full sheet of glass plays two roles. First it acts as an insulator since it effectively makes a double pane window with a pocket of air in between, and second it acts as a sacrificial first layer of glass to protect it from the outside world (baseballs, weathering, and years of knocking on the glass door).
@StainedGlass2 жыл бұрын
The frame around the whole thing is simple aluminum glazing channel that acts as a spacer to sandwich the finished artwork between two sheets of tempered glass. Building an insulated unit like this serves all the purposes the commented before me laid out, as well as serving to make the piece about a million times easier to clean.

Bevels are heavy, but you used zinc came throughout which will obviously lend a lot of rigitity to the window and prevent sagging the way old lead does! That is a strong lattice! I am planning a very tall sidelight window project, all straight cuts and I am considering zinc throughout for strength and longevity and to avoid rebar. Can you tell me, what width you selected for your H-came? Thanks! Awesome work.

I see it now. . . looks like it was 1/4” Round H from Cascade.
@StainedGlass4 жыл бұрын
@@studiohanson Thanks so much for the watch and the question. And yeah, you must have seen it in the section where we pull it from the box, it's ZR25 quarter round H. I am prepping a video this week about working with hard metal came. I'm sure you're well equipped, but let me know if you'd like any pointers on cutting and working with it.

Have you ever had to take a piece back apart after putting like 3/4 of it together because of something not aligned correctly? Don't imagine you did considering your process. BTW, Pogo was the perfect addition
@StainedGlass2 ай бұрын
yeah hell yeah that happens all the times, heh. something comes out of alignment, or breaks, or I look and just decide a joint or a setting isn't as good as I can make it and it needs to be done properly, so I disassemble half a window, fix the problem, and reassemble. it's very common.

For a panel that size is it sufficiently stable without adding re-strip, reinforcement bars or something other? ?It's fabulous work , though. Very impressive and very professionally done.
@StainedGlass2 жыл бұрын
The came and the border channel are zinc, they are rigid metal (which is why we have to cut it with a cutting wheel), so every line of came in the window acts as its own reinforcement bar.

Hi. Great video! Learned so much. What’s the putty you use? Thank you in advance!!
@StainedGlass2 жыл бұрын
Thank for the comment. The putty used is a purpose-made mix of portland cement, chalk, linseed oil, and mineral spirits.

What border is around this to support it? And what’s the powder? Beautiful work
@SuperJimbell2 жыл бұрын
the border is Colombia and the powder is cocaine😄
@StainedGlass2 жыл бұрын
The border around the edge is 1/2'' zinc U channel. The powder is calcium carbonate, simple chalk, sometimes called "whiting".

Not being funny, and the finished work is still beautiful, but not seeing much in the way of stained glass here?
@StainedGlass5 ай бұрын
"stained glass" refers to the craft generally, not necessarily the fact that the glass is colored if a person wanted to argue that the glass MUST be colored for the final panel to be called stained glass, I'd make the case that of all the glass colors you can choose, clear is one of them
@janzbedny59212 жыл бұрын
Why are you using so long strips? The window is not strong at all This is unacceptable way of doing stained glass
@derekredfield6867 Жыл бұрын
Lead strips with canals for the glass then putty after the solder. It’s solid this way
