Depends on if the game uses subtractive math or multiplicative math for the filters. I suspect it's the latter, meaning the degrade chance is actually (1 - P)^n, where P is your reduction and n is the number of reducers. In this case, it'd be around a 32% chance of degradation with 5 filters.

If you remove the conveyors between each filter, you can make the whole system twice as compact (thus increasing water pressure). And instead of travelling on conveyors, the products will instead "teleport" to the next filter. So it would be faster, smaller and better water pressure. Unless you like big things :)

Doing some maths on the water filters. Lets say a chance of break down without water filters is 100%. With 5 water filters lowering it 20% each it would bring it from 100% down to 30.77%. Because the second water filter will only filter off 20% of the already reduced 80%. So each water filter will reduce it less and less.
@josh46013 жыл бұрын
i'd guess it works more like: First filter drops it to 80%, second filter 20% of 80% = 64% then 20% of that is 51% etc etc, diminishing returns But idk, never played the game.

I don't think the filters are cumulative. If 100% of your chance of breakages is 1000, 5 filters would reduce the chances to 367.68. 20% of 1000 be 800, then 20% of that is 640, then 20% of that is 512 and so on. It's like continuously dividing a number by 2, you'll never reach 0.
@pi-stone4603 жыл бұрын
you should use 30 or 40 water filters : 1 - (0,8^40) = 0,999867077 It reduces chances of fail by 99.987% for 40 filters ;)
