Making JCB 4CX bucket fit quickhitch headstock

In this video I change the brackets on a JCB 4cx front bucket to fit onto its new quick change headstock.
The old hangers were removed using arcair gouging powered by my tecarc welder. New brackets were drawn up using Onshape, then cnc gas cut out on the Kutavar cnc table. The remains of the old welds were ground smooth, paint ground away and then the new JCB brackets were welded into place. Nice straight forward job, this one.
Hope you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for watching!

That new plasma table, particularly with the software must be saving a lot of time. At the same time allowing you to do things that previously would have been harder to do.

Great engineering and execution, Job well done. Smart wearing breathing device especially when grinding old coated surfaces as it vaporizes all the compounds in the coatings/paints when ground and these vapors are never safe for breathing. It might on future up dates be worthwhile to try to shorten the top link by about 2-3" to get tilt equal in both directions. More power on the plasma if you are going to cut a lot of materials this thick. Ray Stormont

Oliver, I'm guessing you have been practicing with that sledge hammer! A few weeks ago you said you weren't very good with it, but you sure taught those ears a lesson. Love your engineering skills and outathebox thinking. That cutting table is just what you needed, too. Thanks for another stimulating and enjoyable video!

Looks like some wet weather over there at the moment. Here in Queensland Australia, we have another drought and the place is as dry as a bone. Dams are getting low and the water tank is around 3/4 full now. We could do with some of your rain.

That was an interesting job, needing quite a bit of precision to make sure it all fitted correctly. Definitely a much better idea with the quick connect system to change implements than having to knock out pins to change them.

We have a ford 655 without a q-hitch front bucket, I moved our forks to the far outside of the bucket for better vision going down the roads. The fork's are lethal, I usually just un-pin them from their home position and flip the bucket to let gravity do the business, then get out and position them where I need them.. Great video, look forward to the next!

My dad made a log splitter in the 80s out of the jack leg of a hymac digger and the spool bank out of a dumper that he used for the foot control. I have it up on KZbin here if you're interested on my channel- the steel is a bit more tarnished though! I'd highly recommend a foot pedal though if you can it's much easier to work with both hands and go forward and back on a pedal.
