Cutting the tapers and scarfs on the paddle shafts, then roughing out the curvature for the blade on the shaft.

I think Im going to cut down a couple of 2x4's and try cutting my scarf angles on scrape wood first. A lot less time invested in redoing another 2x2 than glueing up another beautiful blank shaft. Great video

Nick is there an advantage to cutting the scarf joint by applying half of the total offset to each shaft (as you demonstrate) vs scarfing one half at zero degrees and setting up the entire offset angle on the other half?

There probably isn’t much difference, other than you don’t need to put as much angle on the saw and you can keep one setup for both halves. In the end the finished result will function the same either way.

Thanks so much for the video Nick! If I wanted a 30 degree I would simply make to 15-degree wedges? or two 30-degrees? just trying to figure out if I am adding to 60degree so I am left with 30 or just adding up to 30-degrees. Math is fun... Thanks!
