Awesome ! Do you buy the sculptures u make the molds for? Or make them? And can u point me in the rite direction on how to make the rubber mold from the start I can’t find one. Thanks!

Well you did it 😀 I'M giving it a try. You've inspired me with your videos. I'm wanting to know for mold release what do you use? I'm not sure if what I'm using is giving me lots of air holes. I'm using castor oil and alcohol. Thanks for any information you can give. May your 2018 be healthy, wealthy and FUN.

Oh well , that's awesome, welcome to the casting world.I use the same as you ,1 part castor oil to 8 - 12 parts isopropyl alcohol . Have you had any issues of latex lifting from your molds?

On occasion years ago .Are you having issues? If so ,tell me and I'll tell you how to avoid and how to remedy if it happens.

@@mrconcreteartisan yes i have. while putting layers of latex to a mold the mold after drying lifted from the mold and distorted the sculpture. it was very frustrating. I was using water based clay, but very little moister left in the water clay. Does moisture in the clay do this?

@@VehicleHunter For rubber mold making you MUST use a sulfur free clay IE: plastilina ,monster clay .The sulfur in the other clay will reject the latex rubber.So sorry to tell you that.

@@mrconcreteartisan yes, the very first step. You have great info, but I don't see an explanation of the choice of mold release on the original model and the securing of the stiff material that become the seam in the latex mold

Good morning Griss . Have you ever tried using the thickening powder to thicken the latex into a paste instead of the micro fiber ? Just curious . I realy enjoy watching your videos. Information is key and i really like seeing different techniques.

Morning Tom.I have a liquid thickener and have done that as well.I found for me,I like the flexibility after the fill with the fibers, but to each their own.I have a couple buds ,one in California and one In New Zealand that use a rubber crumb mixed with latex to fill the voids.Unfortunatly I can't get it in Canada :(

Thanks for your reply. I would like to send you somthing to try if you like it i can tell you where to get more if you donyt like it dont use it . i understand if you dont want to give out your address.. The stuff i have you can mix the latex to thick or thin as you want the consistensy of spackling plaste to peanutbutter . Its a powder.. I use it for undercuts or small voids.

Good morning,My wife operates the actual store and she does a great job.I load the vehicles when I'm called upon.On busy days I will stay in the store. The concrete pouring ,mold making ,staining ,painting all finishes is little ol me.Can be daunting at times but it forces me to be well organized.:)

Talk to your supplier and ask if they have a rubber thickener.Most rubber suppliers have a thickening agent you can mix in.Good luck.

Usually two coats a day ,one early in the morning ,and one in the afternoon.Sometimes I will come back at night and put a third coat if they are ready.
