In this video I'm taking a big pile of fingerboard blank, cutting them out, countersinking them, sanding them, and shaping them into finished decks ready for graphics. Hope you dig it!

The way I round the rails of my decks is I use a small piece of sand paper and go along the rails while contouring to the curvature of the rails. This has worked for me although it is kind of slow. Your fingerboard content is great, I am a perfectionist myself so when I see someone sharing their perfectionist ideas it makes me happy. Keep it up.

My first though on a solution to round the decks is, maybe scaling the tooling down from a router, to a dremel. There's such a huge assortment of teeny tiny bits and ends for rotary tools. And if there's any advantage in keeping your jig really small, there's even flex shafts that will get rid of the bulk of dremel itself. At the very least, iterating on a design that uses 1/10th the plastic, and 1/4 of the print time becomes tons easier.

I agree when working in miniature you need to use proportional power tools to achieve the same type of finish you would on larger pieces

Definitely worth looking into! I wish I had access to a machine shop because I can imagine a bit that would do the job well, but I haven't been able to find anything like it out there

use a Dremel with a sanding drum at its slowest speed. you can knock out all those in about 10-15 mins

That's the next thing I want to try, either a barrel or vibratory tumbler with some mild medium

7:16 What type of drill bit do you use to round the decks? The 3D printed accessory works on a makita 3709?? Where can I download the stl file you use to support the deck and laser cut the decks?

Just model it yourself. What's the point of making something if you're just going to make exactly the same thing someone else made

I use a dremel setup, so the laser cutting actually works!! 4 passes i see at about 3cm height? I recently bought a mini Daja laser that is supposed to be able to cut as well and I have been wondering . Thanks man for all you do, when I get back to my printers I will be hitting up your site again!

The laser intensity, speed, and number of passes will all vary based on your machine, but yeah! It works!

@@GoodRoads what about doing some STL files for 3D nylon 100 per cent filled wheels, maybe a few different shapes, all to fit standard fingerboard wheel bearings? That would be sik man and I would so hit you up for those files on your site! I have no CAD experience myself, but I can print stuff!
