The foam pit under the trap doors fooled me. I was thinking it was an actual safety measure. I would have thought it was CG if it was depicted as an actual massive pit, like I was able to tell for Tug of War. It’s funny that the CG foam pit passed right by me because it was believable. I wasn't even able to SPOT that it was CG in any way! I expected colour grading but when I saw the sets for the Glass Bridge and Tug of War, I initially thought it was done with some clever mirror placement or something so god... damn, you guys nailed this one! I'm studying VFX at the moment and trying to get into the industry, looks like I've gotta train my eyes a bit more lol

Yeah but these shots were a LOT more simple than the ones from Matrix. They only had to make a 3D model of the background, 3D track the camera and composite it in the footage using Luma Key and manual masking. Which is tedious, but really easy.
