it's quite interesting for me to see this since I have a cookbook written by my great great nan. she always put the sponge cake into the brandy and biscuits into sherry, to allow them to absorb the liquid. she never poured it over the ingredients. and candied angelica is gorgeous! you really need to get some. so it's interesting to see a different take. thank you for this.

That would make a lot of sense, putting the sponge and biscuits into the liquid - it would make for a more even absorption. I really wanted to get some Angelica, but it’s next to impossible to find in Ontario, it seems. Next time…

The sugared flowers make it a very interesting focal point and very fun!

They are so cool! I hadn’t made them since I was a kid, but as soon as I found them at the farmers market I knew I had to make trifle 😁

Oh my that looks sooo tasty 😯🤤 Second, I just recently found Max Miller's channel and I love him his enthusiasm is adorable! 😆 Lastly, I love these random not-sewing videos and am honestly here for all the things so do as you choose to do 😁👍

Thank you! It was so good! Max has definitely been an inspiration to expand my culinary history knowledge- his channel is a hoot! And I really appreciate your kind words, it’s always a gamble doing something not the usual style, so it’s encouraging to hear that people like my experiments! 😁

Oh what a lovely video! (I recognize that brand of store bought pound/sponge cake you showed at the beginning of your video)

Thank you! It’s definitely a popular brand around here, and it’s not bad, but wouldn’t be good for trifle

They had tin mechanical egg beaters in Victorian time. It made the work a lot faster. Don't forget to chill your bearers and bowl before whipping cream.

I do have a manual egg beater, but it was at my family's cabin at the time. It definitely makes the work faster than by hand, for sure.
