I built molds and production parts many years ago and the process is expensive and very time consuming. I think your method is genius and you exhibit skill, talent and craftsmanship in your creations. Man I love what you do. I wish I lived close enough to you to do a build project and sip some bourbon.

Your job was done in a very professional manner. The only thing that I suggest you might want want to do on future projects, is use a mold release agent. So when you fiber glass work is complete, you project release easier. All in all, excellent job. 😁😁😁👍👍👍👍😈

Good work. I used clay first time builing a custom lip. This time I'm building the same one but going to try this method perhaps. My lip has more of a shovel-like sweep, opposing the curvature of what I see you've chosen yours to be (backwards shovel?) haha

What is that cardboard? I watched in mute. Nevertheless I noticed they charge bumper lips more expensive than bumpers... It's irritating, I know they're making a killing. So I am trying to be cheap. I would like to find something solid I can bond.

Loving the lip 💯 quick question what’s the total cost of doing all this at home?
@EMIYOON
@EMIYOON 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I think just in material cost, maybe around $200-300? I cant remember haha but with the second quality carbon fiber, it was like fraction of the price of the better fabrics of carbon

What type of resin is it? I have the paper and I have some fabric here already I just didnt know if it's just plain fiberglass resin mixed with black pigment or something
@EMIYOON
@EMIYOON 2 жыл бұрын
The fabric I usually would use is a 2nd grade carbon fiber. If i could I try to use a clear resin, but the resin I tend to use for any project that I plan to fill or color, I just use a home improvement grade resin, usually bondo, and they are usually brown in color

@EMIYOON
@EMIYOON 3 жыл бұрын
I dont have a link for my materials because i used to get them through a supplier locally. As for the pvc, that is a material i loved using because it was very easy to cut. Only thing is, you have to use a very thin sheet and usually, those are very brittle and break easily.

@ExplosiveBanana my apologies, you are correct. I believe that it is not 3mm or 6mm, rather, .030 and .060 in inches, in thickness. but yeah, 3mm and 6mm would be insane to cut with scissors hahahahaha

I am very confused why u wasted money on doing carbon fiber. Same end result with just fiberglass…. Not being mean. But if u want people to see it. It’s not something u want them to see. Bc is u go and polish it. U will see the overlaps.
