One of the things I find endlessly annoying, defeatist and stupid (sooo fucking stupid--because it's disingenuous, above all) about post-modernism, most dark age comics, and yes, the era Deadpool came to be in was all that.. shit. The REAL subversion Ryan pulled off is subverting THAT (the comic Deadpool is darker and was originally a villain BTW), and doing it a time when the real world IS kinda dark.
