Killzone 2 is still gorgeous, I wish they’d remaster the whole series, Killzone 2 in 4K with updated textures would look nearly like a current gen game. Killzone 3 toned down a lot of the lighting and effects in part to make it playable with 3D TVs at the time and to make the environments larger.

I think the controversy about *that* trailer resulted in a lot of ill will - sad!

I wish the Killzone games had been made for PC. Imagine PC only Killzone 1 back in 2004. It would have given Half Life 2 and Doom 3 a run for their money and even beaten Halo 2

Killzone was made by a team that was pretty small and still relatively "green" so to speak. Talented, to be sure, but they hadn't yet mastered the hardware by the launch of Killzone nor had the budget to do so, not compared to many other AAA titles on the system. So I seriously doubt that in 2004 that they would've been able to compete with the best and most experienced PC developers, when they weren't yet even competing with the best devs on the platform they were on.

@@apictureoffunction true but maybe if the game had been PC only it would have been better than the PS2 one, it could have been the same as the PS2 just with way better graphics

I'm actually quite disappointed in how little games have developed dynamic interactive or destroyabe physics in the environments and objects within them..

It was a fun game but I think I was let down by the "Halo Killer" marketing. It wasn't anywhere near a Halo Killer, but it was a really solid console FPS for the time if you didn't consciously make that comparison while playing. And having bots for multiplayer was a great inclusion that Halo unfortunately had left out.

Best PS2 FPS by a long shot. The only competitors are Black and Medal of Honor: Vanguard, which at the very least pull off better visuals. But they're inferior in terms of content (no online, no bots). The other games with cult followings from that period, like Halo: Combat Evolved, Half-Life 2, etc. were total garbage compared to Killzone (I honestly even prefer Cold Winter or Project: Snowblind to those two). Far Cry 1 against Killzone is a better contest. Battlefield 2 came a few months after Killzone as well. I never played KZ2/3... and went straight to Shadow Fall in 2016. What a mediocre game, unworthy of being KZ1's successor.

The only Killzone game worth mentioning in the same breath as Halo is KZ2. The rest are tiers below Halo, KZ2 is the only 9/10 game GG made for the series.
