Michael Praed and Jason Connery star as Robin Hood in Richard Carpenter's influential and highly acclaimed re-working of the classic myth. Yes, indeed, Robin of Sherwood is Robin Hood as we played it as children--and I say this as someone who only saw the show for the first time as an adult. It's truer to the archetype than any other film version before or since.

Michael's always come off as nice in interviews - except when he's explaining why he left here. Saying it was a hard decision "because Robin was a big hit", not because of the situation he would put the cast and crew in, by giving them such short notice. He's clearly being defensive, though (employing those exact mechanisms he talked about..), because it's uncomfortable having to explain his career going downhill. No wonder. And the editors intercut that with Robin's death, that's brutal! 😂 Also, it's of course no coincidence that Clive's story comes right before, of aggressive attention from fans stopping Michael from even leaving the house.. Imagine what a shock that must have been for a young guy, and how trapped he must have felt. I'd probably also be tempted to escape the country in a hurry, and return to the comforts of the stage. Where you don't get the same kind of fame, *and* there's no cold and wet out of doors shooting. Yeah, I think "chancing the consequences" was only part of the explanation.
