I am not sure even Mother Teresa would have had the patience to do that :) Awesome project!

I'm glad your project worked out for you. The use of out-of focus imagery is brilliant. very attractive clock :-)

This reminds me of that style they used to use in commercials for action movies and such in the late 90s early 00s, a la "You wouldn't download a car." Beautiful and nostalgic, I love it!

Super impressive. At first I thought it used a lens, but now I see it's close to the screen for in-focus and further for not. So clever! Truly a labor of love.

Just. Wow. Beautiful build, and besides the obvious design success, what a testament this is to patience and the power of repetition. Just tinning the almost 700 LED leads alone (not to mention the wires) would have driven most people mad! And capturing it all in time lapse...fantastic. Thank you!

I wonder if it'd have been worth going for a less dense LED strip and feeding it uncut through slots in each letter box for each row, leaving a few unused LEDs between each box so there'd be enough strip to give you the flexibility you need. Having (say) 4 out of every 5 LEDs not actually being used may be worth it, cost vs time wise; there'd be a negligible extra power draw as they'd still be shifting data even if they never had to illuminate. I suppose it wouldn't have knocked a whole lot of time off the total assembly... and your patience definitely pays off; it's a unique effect. Fantastic.

I admit I was shocked when I saw the price of the clock before I watched the video. AFTER seeing how much time and work goes into printing, assembling, and calibrating the clock, plus the raw materials cost, I don't think you're charging enough! Amazing design and execution! I imagine it's pretty noisy? I've used the 9g servos in some RC builds. I hope they are selling well for you.

What a fantastic piece of work. I like to look through a lot of Makes Projects and this one is absolutely impressive. A much more professional Make than a lot of the projects.

Wow, your ingenuity and patience are inspiring. Your build video is mesmerizing. In fact, I like the video so much, I've set it to half-speed with volume off and just let it loop on my tv as background art. Very satisfying to watch.

Build time ? R$D time ? Amazing project.
@twistedtinned55795 жыл бұрын
A friend and me were working on this in our spare time for about two month. There was not a lot of R&D effort we just built a small 2x2 prototype at first.

@@twistedtinned5579 in any case the result is really fun. do the servos make noise at rest? I had on arduino and he was making noise at rest to maintain the position. what is the overall cost? a cost price ideas?
@twistedtinned55795 жыл бұрын
@@crashdown2005 The servos are very quiet at rest. Actually, the first servo I tested was also quite loud when maintaining the position but I think the noise decreased due to the PCA9685 servo drivers and because we are using the cheaper "Tower Pro" knock-offs. The overall cost was about 350 EUR not taking into account the PLA filament.
@crashdown20055 жыл бұрын
@@twistedtinned5579 all the same a sum. Thank you for the info.
