I'm 72, and I still have just about evey item you mentiond in the video - plus! Some of them were my grandmother's and some were my mom's who is now 92. They are great to use and much easier to take care of and wash. Many of the modern appliances and tools take up counter space and require an electrical outlet nearby. The old tools work great, fit in drawers and cabinets, and clean up easily. Still have my mother's colored set of Pyrex mixing bowls as well as old blue canning jars that are lovely and useful. Everything was so well-made back then!

Thank you for the info on the petunias, I never knew that. My old fashioned item is a rosette iron set I got at a flea market down in florida. The lady gave it two me for 2$ because I was the only one who knew what it was. It will replace my mom's set that got lost when we moved her. God is amazing at how he blesses us.

Wow. This video brought back alot of memories. We had almost all the same gadgets in our home and I still use some of them today. They sure were made better too. I loved when mom would bring the bed sheets in off the clothesline. They smelled glorious and I think I always slept better that night. New isn't always better. I love all these old kitchen utensils. I have three different vintage cast iron Dutch ovens!!! Love them. Great for even bread making too. They used to make things to LAST, but unfortunately nowadays it’s cheaply made so you have to buy it over and over which wastes money and fills the landfill. I’ve always said I was born in the wrong century 😂 because I love the old ways!! Our grandparents were the ultimate recyclers using glass bottles that were used again!!❤

I don’t use an electric can opener. I use a good quality hand held can opener. One thing I miss is an outdoor clothesline. I don’t have one know but did in the past and I LOVED using it. Do you remember the metal poles that could be used to support the clothes lines? My grandmother used them.

When I graduated from college, one of the gifts my mom got me was an old potato masher, likely an antique, that Mom found in an antique store or boutique. It has a wooden handle and the masher part has slots and looks a little like a question mark when you turn it to the side and have the handle pointing down. (I hope that makes sense). It looks a lot like ones my grandmother and great grandmother used. I love it! Who cares about a few tiny lumps. That's what tells you the mashed potatoes are homemade! 😋 😋

I don't have an electric can opener, i have a swingaway can opener and use it all the time. My kids don't even have an electric can opener, they're so used to using a manual one it never occurred to any of them to buy an electric one? I have all those you showed plus manual knife sharpener and that hand beater you're looking for, got mine for a dollar at a flea market in a box of old gadgets and no one knew what it was lol. My favorite vintage item is my grandmas 1940 cookbook with all her notes written all throughout the book, makes me feel like she is cooking right along side her again 😊. I have a very unusual old-fashioned item it is a 12 in jar with two 4" rings 1/2 " a part with a long metal pole that connects to the jar lid, there is a turning device outside the jar lid What does this do? It whips cream in no time flat, the cream tastes so much better because it cannot be over whipped. My garden began late I have a ton of cucumbers for pickling, I have tomatoes, and I have cosmos, and hummingbird flowers, I am not done, I planted everything from seed, my peppers, basil, oregano, and strawberries did not germinate, I use Neptune's Harvest fish emulsion because that's what MOM did. The Pickling cukes are gigantic, everything else grower at a lesser pace. Even though gardening starts here, we still have 3 months of grow time here. I love your blouse, Emmy. Really pretty. I am spring cleaning my Mom's house at the rate of one room per week. She told me if there's anything in the kitchen that I want, to take it. She's 81 and has mobility issues and can no longer cook. I brought home a potato slicer exactly like the one you showed. She has many vintage gadgets and I love them. She also has many pretty little dishes like candy dishes, etc. and I brought home the one I remember always having on the coffee table when I was growing up. She also has tons of cookbooks (some of my Dad's Mom's as well) and we brought home a few of those. Really great cookbooks! Great video as usual!

I still have a VCR and videos that I watch. And a dvd player and dvds. I have several record players and lots of records that we play often. Radios in every room. We love a local community radio station. Local news and our kind of music. No apps or subscriptions for us. I have my mums and my husband's grandma's linen table cloths. My mums vintage singer sewing machine. And a semi grand piano thats about 100 years old . We also have my husband's grandma's dinning table and chairs, kitchen dresser, wardrobes and day bed which noone wanted and were all hand crafted and beautiful.

Congratulations on reaching 50k I just sat down to watch you after cutting up a watermelon into pieces so it’s really to go and making peanut butter cookies, seasoning bread crumbs and croutons. Doing some house work in the morning when it cooler. I have been working on having home made meals os that when I to busy to cook I don’t have to order food. I have been enjoying our hummingbird feeder it’s so much fun watching them. I so happy to have clothes drying racks back as mine had broke I was able to get 3 folding racks from marketplace for $15 Canadian dollars for a 3 two are made very well and The other one is wooden one as live in a apartment os the dryer racks help keep laundry cost down .

Well, my kids and grandchildren are growing up. I used an old cast iron waffle maker. It was a stove top. My oldest grandson loved it and asked for it. I gave it to him. Finally he graduated from the culinary so now my oldest thing is my dad‘s old fruit stand hanging scale I still use it. I love it and it reminds me of him every time I use it.

I have my mom's old stainless steel electric skillet she bought from Amway back in the early 70s. Still heats up and cooks great. Also, my mom's hand frech fry cutter. Doesn't look like yours. Mine has legs on it and made of plastic and medal. I remember my mom using it as a kid, and that was back in the early 70s also.

So many memories of using the crank meat grinder that hooked on the kitchen table. My mom would take inexpensive cuts of beef and we would grind it down for hamburgers or meat loaf. First of all, Happy, Happy Anniversary! 25 years and still going strong, I can tell! I got scared because I thought you had gone off the air but it turns out my notifications had gotten turned off for some reason. Glad to find you again! My old fashioned-style household item is a clothes rack. I do not use a dryer but instead dry on the rack. It saves alot of money on energy, keeps my clothes newer longer, and I can do it in any weather. Also, a cheese grater is helpful and saves and a lot of money. I am still using two heavy-gauge stainless steel mixing bowls my mother had when I was a child; I'm now 79. Nothing today equals their quality. I have a 1900 cast iron hand crank corn shucker/thresher. We used it up into 2009 when we grew corn for animals and selling. It works and will certainly keep your arms tone! Like you I have quite a few of the old kitchen utility tools that I still use. I have crank apple corer, sausage grinder, etc. If I'm ever in an antique store, I make sure to check the antique kitchen utensils out.

I'm still using a 1950's Sunbeam Mix Master that I got at Salvation Army 20 yrs. ago for $25.00. It came with 2 stainless steel mixing bowls, and 3 different types of beaters (bread hook, beater and some sort o f square beater). The whole mixer is stainless steel with the top that comes off and turns into a hand mixer with a bake light handle. I've always wanted a Bosch mixer but I can't part with this gem. Everyone that sees it wants it.

I had that SAME cookie press!!!! I still have all the flat pieces. Sadly, I used it so much that it broke. I was heartbroken. That was many years ago, after I got married! Hubby bought me a Super Shooter I think it was called? Killed that too! I made many cookies all those years for parties and for friends as gifts. How fun!! I used it for Jello cookies, red and green for Christmas, the tree design. The camel was my favorite design. Thanks for sharing, as it was SO FUN to see these all again. Hello, Your Mums potato chipper, I would bet, never made a French Fry in its life. My Ma had one and used it to make chips (not crisps, potato chips, as in Fish and Chips). I don't think she knew what a French fry was. She would have probably said, "You mean those horrible skinny things?" I had never encountered a line separator, we have a prop. The current version is a metal and plastic rod that lifts the line up high, keeping the washing off the ground and, if there is a breeze, letting it dry the washing. In olden times, straight branches with a forked end were used. Another lovely video. Thank you.

I love using a vintage aluminum measuring cup, 1/4 cup size. It fits in my utensil drawer and I can use it for most measurements (just use mulitples for more than 1/4 cup.). It reminds me of my childhood since that's what mom had. Also vintage aluminum measuring spoons on a ring. My apron was made by my Grandma when I first married 39 years ago. And I have several glass bake refrigerator containers for leftovers. Bringing the 1940's into my kitchen!

I have a potato masher that is round with holes. I use it to mash hard boiled eggs for egg salad. I use my old fashioned grater to mostly grate cheese and wore out my flour sifter. I bought a pounder from italy that you add a piece to if you want to put little holes in meat. It also has a part to form hamburgers. I have all the cookie cutters that go back to the 1930's and a donut cutter or biscuit cutter that has a wooden handle. The cookie cutters also have wooden handles. We used clothes props to keep the lines up. Long thin boards that had a V cut out of the end. The clothes prop man walked through the whole city selling them. I used them until i moved in 1998. I am sure people still use them in Camden NJ if they hang their clothes out.

My mother-in-law is getting ready to turn 81 years old in just a couple of weeks and she always says to us if there's anything I have let me know and I'll leave it for you, LOL she has a small collection of recipe books and that famous metal recipe box with all sorts of clippings in it. I have a couple that I use. There has been a market in Philly that has been in business for many years. My ancestors had a vegetable stand and a butcher stand close to each other. They met, fell in love and married. I have some extremely old knives and a ladle that I use. Also, when we were kids, once ina while we were allowed to put our potatoes thru a hand river. It made those plain potatoes the greatest thing ever. (At least we thought it did.). I still use it to this day. I love old things so I have others as well including an old set of nut crackers and nut tools. Have to try those wings! They look amazing!

I only have an electric can opener now because it was my mom's and I grabbed it when their house was being emptied. It's nice for larger cans but most often I prefer to use the handheld one.

I still use my grandmothers tea kettle every morning. It’s copper bottom whistling basic kettle. I’ve also picked up several old copper bottom Revereware pots and I love those. I use manual can opener and cast iron skillets & Dutch oven but those are all newish. When it comes to pots and pans I’ll use cast iron or vintage any day over the new stuff.

This showed up in recommended videos. What a pleasant surprise. I use all those tools you showed and more. I did update my cookie press with a new old fashioned press that doesn’t use that turn knob. I found it in my hardware store. The French fry cutter can be hard to press down, but makes great fries. I switched to cutting them with a knife. I use 1970s food chopper. It has that 1970s orange handle.

I still use the heavy metal manual vegetable and meat grinder to grind cranberries for my Mom's cranberry salad recipe. Grinding the cranberries added juice that was caught in a bowl which added more flavor to the salad. I keep it in a wooden box my Dad built for it. Also I inherited the variety of spoons my Grandpa carved for my Mom, which I also use.

What a beautiful blouse you are wearing. I have made cream of chicken soup from scratch. Best you know what is in it, and taste great. I only have a hand held can opener. I like a potato ricer more for potatoes but have a masher. Recipes handwriting love. When my mom passed my sister threw hers away. My son bought me a used cookbook the same as I got for a wedding gift. It is newer that included microwave section. The lady who had it wrote her favorite recipes in pencil. I just started wearing an apron when I cook. Love your tips.

A neighbor who lives down the road from us several years ago had a yard sale. At the end of his yard sale he put out a box that said free. I have a heavy, old bread plate that says give us this day our daily bread around the edge. It was my mothers. In about 1970 if broke in half and I found someone to repair it. Not sure what they did but I am still using it.
