Making Our Way Along The Blue Ridge Parkway
(EPISODE 239)
ℹ️ About this episode:
On this episode of, LivinRvision, we are making our way along the Blue Ridge Parkway, through the Blue Ridge Mountains for some spectacular views! The Blue Ridge Parkway was such a beautiful drive with multiple overlooks that we encourage you to not pass up if you get the chance. We embarked on this journey with no set plans of where we were going to stay the night. Sometimes that is the best way to “plan” a trip, as there are always unexpected pleasant surprises regardless of where your travels may take you. We had full intentions of making our way to Mount Airy, NC at the end of this trip, but as we started looking at places to stay and things to do, we found another Harvest Hosts “hidden gem”, more on that in the video. We also share a few of our tips and tricks when going to a Harvest Hosts at the last minute.
We hope you enjoy this episode!

Hello Brian and Michelle! Due to your very helpful comments and content, we just signed an order for a Grech Strata-ion! We are long time RV’ers having had all kinds - pull trailers, 5th wheels, LONG class A’s and really needed help in trying to figure out if we could survive the van for short trips. You have helped us a lot! God Bless and be safe in all your travels. Brian, I love your mild sarcastic comments to Michelle and especially your (hidden) facial expressions! You guys are very REAL and I especially like that! We’re following with great admiration of your style and interest of bring quality content. Hope to meet your guys one day!

We love watching your videos, but as North Carolinian natives, was surprised you completely missed Mt Mitchell, the highest point in the eastern US. With beautiful vistas and a wonder restaurant at the top. And Linville Falls. And Grandfather Mt. Boone is a great foodie town as well. You missed the Blue Ridge Parkway. Please consider revisiting the Blue Ridge Parkway. You will be glad you did.

I absolutely love the Blue Ridge Parkway from end to the other. Never drive on the Parkway after dark in the spirng/summer due to the forest. It is pitch black. One of the best places to stay in just on the other side of Richmond, VA at Otter's Peak. In North Carolina in the Boone area, there is a campground. Great place.

Awesome area in our home state. Wish you could have visited Boone and Blowing Rock in more detail. Very popular places. The Linn Cove viaduct you drove across was a missing link in the BRP for many years, because Hugh Morton (owner of grandfather mountain, and quite a good photographer was a naturalist, and would not allow the landscape to be altered on the mountain. Finally a plan was agreed upon to build the parkway extended from the mountain, and the parkway was completed. The Linville Waterfalls are quite remarkable and several viewpoints to hike to. Movies have been filmed there. Come back again! ❤ Looking forward to seeing your experience in Mt.Airy! Fun place! I’ve stayed in Andy Griffith’s boyhood home with a group of college friends (Appalachian State ‘85). Lots to enjoy! Fun restaurants to choose from.

Loved this as my wife and I did the parkway on our way back from Florida to Montreal in early April. It wasn’t clear to me if you were headed south or north. We did the whole 469 miles took 3 days. The first or last 150 miles in the south is a killer, a beautiful killer as average speed is about 30MPH in out B+ LTV. We love HH and did about a dozen on the trip down and up. The only one we didn’t feel safe at was a brewery as these are usually in the middle of a town. We favour Vineyards and farms in the country side.

I appreciate, as well, the history info of the areas you travel. It is always interesting and gives context and ideas for our travels. So many other traveler videos just mention where they are but give the viewer no history or even of exactly where they are. Oftentimes they just guess what the history might be in an area and don’t even look it up at all.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a wonderful drive, especially once all the trees bloom. However there are so many sites to see and hikes along the way. We love the BRP and have been up and down it many times. You missed a nice stop by passing Mt Mitchell. It is the highest point east of the Mississippi River! Also, the Via-Duct that goes around Grandfather MT is one of the earliest engineering marvels of its time. The BRP was built by the CCC to help recover from the Great Depression. Great video, just thought I would give you a little more info. My wife says we are a lot like you guys, especially Brian's (my name too) comments and facial expressions. Look forward to more. Brian

Hi, I was thinking the same thing, what is the tunnel height clearance for our Class B Coachmen Beyond. I googled the BRPW site and got a list of clearance heights for all tunnels. The clearance at edge line ranges from 11’ 7” to 14’8”. The clearance at center of tunnels ranges from 17’7” to 19’2”. I printed out the list which has milepost, name of tunnels, length, and height for my reference. I hope to drive the parkway in autumn.

Things like this, you should always do your own research and use an RV gps with your rigs dimensions in the settings. We can’t tell people, you’ll be fine to drive through, because as soon as someone gets too close to the sides and messes up their rig, guess who could get blamed? 👋🏻😊👋🏻🤓

@LivinRVision
@LivinRVision Жыл бұрын
@ED ABRAMS not at all, when we are traveling and only staying one night or two it is just an easy place to pull over and stay in this van when we don’t have to worry about having hookups. When we stay in one area for a longer period of time, then we stay at a campground, usually a Thousand Trails for 2 or 3 weeks…also not sponsored. Having this an just makes it so easy to dry camp and is such a waste of money to make reservations at campgrounds as well as a nuisance when we’re staying just one or two nights. Also, when we are traveling along, we don’t always know how far we want to go, so it is nice to just keep driving and then make a decision as we are driving along. Sometimes it’s a Cracker Barrel and sometimes it’s a Walmart but we prefer Cracker Barrel’s if it feels safe. With the 1,260 amp hours of Lithium-ion, we can run everything without worrying and we always have places to dump tanks and fill fresh water. Again, we do this when we are mostly traveling and making short stays along the way. Most of our viewers know this from watching over the years. 😁🤓

Brian, I agree with you. Beautiful views of nature always bring me closer to God, and those were some stunning views! And not to change the subject, but I love your sense of humor! Michele: “ Your door isn’t closed all the way...” Brian: “I was thinking of jumping out!” 😂 Love to you both! ❤

I’ve ridden the entire parkway on a motorcycle. The curves made it fun. I’ve attempted to drive it both in a car and a Class B. Couldn’t do it. Boring and tedious. The tree cover makes it impossible to view scenery unless you are in a overlook . Try watching scenery in the curves and you’ll run off the road. If you get caught on the Parkway in the dark, you’ll be stuck in a black tunnel until the next egress which could be a long long tedious drive. The views from outside the Parkway are much better. (The major road on the WEST side.-Not East-heavy traffic and endless road construction) So, unless you’re driving it to say you’ve done it, do yourself a favor and take the easier and more scenic road outside the Parkway.

@the world it appears like your asking us to do more videos about remote work. Our channel isn’t focused on those type of videos, although we do have one video out there already about “Remote Work”. Those videos don’t get many views but we wanted to at least have one out there to share with others. Flexjobs is about the best website we have found for remote work. 👍🏻👍🏻 Michelle is employed by an employer and I am self employed. Both work full-time and then some. 😂

Could you hear deliverance banjo music when you were by yourselves? 😅I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks that way.
