I think it's important to keep in mind that if these things don't in fact excite you, the game is simply not for you. I see a lot of people that tend to forget it's just a game in the end, the goal is to have fun playing, so you should never have to force yourself to sit through something you find annoying.

Ice Trap feels really good as a more "defensive" skill as it chills and freezes enemies with ease, Explosive Trap has better scaling with investment tho, it should be a relatively easy swap 😎

Everyone was complaining about the new league because it's new mechanics wasnt worth doing. As a new-ish player, there are so many old league mechanics that will be brand new that whatever the new thing is wont matter much.

if you're a relatively new player, you straight-up don't have the context to know if the changes they made were good / bad (or even if there were changes, at all!), so yes. I always recommend PoE to new players as it's still, regardless of its current state to those who already play it, by far the best ARPG on the market

As a new player that is only lvl 25 atm so far the loot has been pretty boring but is it like Diablo that I have to get max level in order to find a piece of gear that does anything interesting? Bc so far the most important stat to the gear is the getting that stat your going for (for me evasion/e sheild and a dagger) and what gem slots it has and nothing else matters and I leave almost everything on the ground bc inventory space is so low.

Just don't get hit 4Head In all seriousness though, PoE can be brutal. Had a great map that you just wanted to corrupt for completion? You did just that and your map changed, typically it's a harmless change, but sometimes you might get a map that will brick your build. So be careful when mapping, read your maps, don't be like me and toss them in without a care.

The last time that happened to me it's because I was playing a skill I didn't really like. I tried a Melee weapon build and hated it, so I didn't play again for a few years. The next time I tried a mage spellcaster and thats when I fell in love with the game. Another thing to keep in mind is that the majority of builds don't "FULLY UNLOCK" until you've finish at least all 10 acts of the campaign and at least have your ascendancy class fully unlocked. But as others have said, if you're not feeling the game no harm in playing something else.

its the same thing, poe ninja builds after the first week will contain items practically unobtainable unless you plan on grinding 16 hours a day with extreme amounts of game knowledge, look at their gear and try to get weaker versions of the same things.

Thinking about trying this game out but i was wondering if you only use 1 skill in your build, like you said a "cleave build", does that mean you are building around a damage type or a single skill?

single skill. the beauty of PoE is that you can do (almost literally) anything with any skill, scaling-wise. pure physical, only fire, all elemental, chaos, damage-over-time, etc. not every choice is equally powerful, obviously, but you have the option to do whatever you want with said-skill. but, yea - choosing one "main" skill and building everything else to supplement it is the way to go. you can even choose some support gems as the "main" skill, such as cast on crit, and then choose other active skills to "support" it, if that makes sense

@@Woolie Then there's also stuff like the cold dot archetype, where you use vortex+cold snap+creeping frost, and some builds use one skill as a "clearing skill", and another as the single-target skill.

Talking about "common sense" in relation to PoE is... I don't want to be disparaging, because this is good, well-intentioned content, but there IS so much going on -- and so many ways to brick so many parts of your character -- that calling anything "common sense" has to come from the perspective of someone who's so ingrained in existing resources and accumulated knowledge that there's no meaningful consideration for people who might see this video and think "hey, interesting game, I'll go use my Standard Common Sense(tm) and give it a shot!" Even parsing the massive info dump that comes after that statement would be absolute sensory overload for this person, despite them seeming to be the target audience.
