Thank you for this tutorial. I appreciate the tipps you gave to improve my workflow, however one thing really disturbed me. I was always waiting for you to still change that. A sleeve with a mirrored cap will never fit well and you could easily tell on the avatar the poor fit of it . The cap of the sleeve MUST be different front and back.

lots of pattern making tutorial have the same technical issues . The front and the back sleeve caps use the same cutting in tight and fitted garment will cause the arm movement troubles, not only about the fit and look.

This tutorial would be much better if you take the same kind of measurements that there are at the Avatar Editor Chart because it is really difficult to know exactly where to take them directly from the Avatar.

If you turn on the avatar measurements in the 3D Toggle Menu you can select those measurements and view the sizing.

It is a bit unorthodox... Simply keep the Left Click held down and when you want to stop, tap the Right Click. you will then get the precision dialogue box.

It is a super helpfull tutorial! I'm really starting to understand the programm now. There is something I don't understand though, in the tutorial the darts don't get "points", where as when I do it i have baseline and patternpoints, I have to select the right one before adjusting the darts. It is not only me that has this problem, a colleague of mine has it as well, does anyone know what setting is wrong or what we are doing wrong?

If you create a dart by right-clicking on a Segment Point, you can go back to edit the dart by right-clicking on one side of the dart.

Hi, could please explain if unfold function is also useful for the front bodice? is the merge one that you used a better option because you can maintain the symmetry when applying changes to pattern and with unfold you loose this possibility or what is your recommendation? You could really use either. It's your preference. If you make a symmetric copy with sewing you could even just merge the centerline without sewing. I personally prefer to sew, then merge incase I want to make major changes.

The designer in this video has experience drafting patterns in real life. Her suggested changes are based on what she sees in the pattern and the shape of the avatar. This edits will insure a proper fit of this pattern to this avatar.

KZbin will translate to the language of choice. Create your own pattern by substituting your own measurements.

The Points are being added when they Extend the Internal Lines. Then after the narrator moves them slightly the adjust the curvature since the CB seam is no longer straight and you do not want the area with the Segment Points to actually be pointed

Isn't possible to use 3D in another time, I mean after you design the pattern? Firstly as a patternmaker i would draw the pattern and then i'll trace out the pieces, instead in clo i m forced to start from a "piece of fabric" and lines could not be used freely to make a proper grid (as lectra modaris) or maybe I'm missing something?

Hi. Some users like creating a large fabric Square (acts like a piece of paper) and then using Internal Lines to draft out the pattern piece. Many users will also add a Grid as a graphic for reference measurements

The shape of your sleeve cap depends on the garment you are creating. There is not one single answer for a sleeve cap.

At some point, pattern drafting must be done. Whether it is in CLO or in a 3rd party software and imported.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but you can do something similar by using 3D pen on the avatar and flatten the pattern. But pattern drafting is essential to fit real people, and make your work look professional, i find.

This option shows up when you are in an area that has a measurement within the property editor or dialogue box. For example if you Right Click a segment line and choose Change Length. Right Click on the measurement and you will see the option

That is simply a centerline to indicate it is now a Half Symmetric Pattern. It is not sewn.

The wiggly line will go straight when you simulate. Try Autosewing before you merge your patterns.

There is not a definitive way of knowing this; it is based on the garment you are creating. Male or female? Is it a shirt, jacket, sweater? Are you going to add a sleeve?

No no no. A head sleeve can't be identical front and back. Impossible. At the first test on real fabrics, you will be recalibrated immediately. These're the basics of the pattern maker
