Whenever I think, ‘I’d love to learn ?????, it’s a little bit left field, I wonder if anyone’s done a KZbin tutorial?’ It’s always here on this channel. Thanks so much.

Excellent lesson. I was learning this song purely to irritate a co-worker because he told me he hated this song. And at first I kinda did too. But the more I've heard it, it's really grown on me. And now I know how to play it, which again, I was doing purely out of spite lol. Cheers, that Mustang rocks!

With XTC I have come to the understanding that Andy equals wild abandon and chance, hallmarks of being self taught and Dave equals precision and planning which are hallmarks of proper musical education.

Thanks. I knew there had to be an easier way (place on the neck) to play that. Also, I just learned it is he is happy "in his work". I always thought it was world for some reason.

Have always loved that song, mainly for the guitar and simplicity in lyrics. I've come across people born in their mid to late 40s that don't know it. How can it be? Nice choice.

Like others commenting here, I concur whole-heartedly that your choice of tunes to teach us is just refreshing. It was a great era in music when XTC were writing and recording songs like Nigel, Senses and Generals & Majors. What a time that was. Anyway, nice '66 Mustang. Such a classic and rare these days. Looking forward to more great tunes. Cheers.

Hear hear. I played for 15 years, stopped for about that many, and since coming back, Adrian was among the first places I landed on YT with the 'Cropper Sixths' lesson. Best guitar instruction channel on YT in terms of subjects and songs I want to try and learn. Incredible resource.

1.26: It was actually a departure from their quirky, jerky post-punk stuff. "Nigel" is a New Wave classic. Drums And Wires is their first New Wave album.

Thank you, Adrian! I dropped what I was doing when I saw that you had done an XTC tutorial--and such a classic. Brilliant work, as usual. Excited that you asked for more XTC requests. It's hard to narrow it down to a few, but I second the earlier requests for Love on a Farm Boy's Wages, Mayor of Simpleton, and Generals and Majors, and would add Earn Enough for Us, and No Thugs in our House. Love your work. My favorite on the Interwebz.
@foff4strings6 жыл бұрын
Spot on as usual (i.e. something for the non-metalheads on t'internet). Obscure XTC, you say? Well, not to me, but I love the guitar figure in 'Outside World' and the way it morphs into the outro solo; that chordal rhythm motif on the intro of Radios in Motion; or the chords that underpin the chorus of Beatown. Just for hell of it try the solo to Complicated Game. And then....and then...and then...
@royphillips7435 Жыл бұрын
Best thing to remember with Xtc is that they would just write and play with no thought at all about chords or drum beats in other words just a musical group there ain't that many of us in the music making game really 👌

hi Adrian, you're really impressing me with your excellent choice of artists and their pieces. Andy Partridge's guitar style and writting was and is so innovative, really hard to work out so many thanks for this. Further great examples to consider include Ten feet tall, Senses working overtime and the tricky Scarecrow People.

Excellent, Adrian! Love this! Another XTC song people usually get wrong is Respectable Street. That XTC songs are hard to figure out is partly due to Andy’s penchant for unique chord phrasings, I would think. Andy’s opening chords and Dave Gregory’s arpeggio riffing in Respectable Street are just awesome and often gotten wrong in tab, etc.
