Idea! Place a plastic bag around your magnet, but inside out. Once you've captured all the metal dust, you've got a ready bag that has already started to collect the dust that you've already gathered and less of a mess to clean off of your magnet. Nice work!

Good choice of blade to make. I love that knife! Nice way to collect steel dust. I made a cannisters damascus out of my grindings. Didn't work so well. To much abrasive in the dust
