@@RustLegion To be honest, I didn't know it either until I wrote it to you, it was spur of the moment inspiration. However, I was referring to the somewhat clumsy handles of many manufacturers that resemble a Coca-Cola bottle in shape.

Your knifemaking is really solid. You clearly master every step of the way. More than I can say about myself, but that's what drives me forward. Also, the place you hate the most is the part I love the most. Brass is my favourite material to work with. But on top of all that, your video editing is brilliant! Good job, mate!
@RustLegion Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the nice comment mate. I have much to learn and to improve but that's the fun :) I also like working with brass , if I had to do this with stainless it would be much more unpleasant :) Brass is more forgiving.
@raven_of_zoso455 Жыл бұрын
@RustLegion you know, earlier tonight, when I was watching this video while having some evening food before going back out in my workshop, I had just cut a piece of 2,5mm brass for a middle-spacer (don't know the technical term, but for your knife it would be something to put between the ebony and the alder burl, and like a sandwich of different plates, you know what I mean.) And I actually filed out a profile-pattern on the brass plate. I've never done it before, but it was actually quite fun, even though it was a bit hard on the fingers as I don't have a vice yet. But it was not that hard, just a bit time-consuming, and it was very satisfying to see the pattern develop. Also, I forgot to say, that alder burl is beautiful! Is it Scandinavian alder? I have several alder burls from this area in Northern Norway where I live, yet I have never seen a pattern quite like that before.

I just found your channel. Looking at the beauties you make encouraged me to try making my own puukko. Do you have any suggestions for a person who is familiar with knives, but never made one himself?
@RustLegion3 жыл бұрын
It is awesome that I encouraged someone to try and make a knife. My advice is to watch some more videos , see what tools you have around you and adapt your process to the tools and workplace you have. You will need a piece of steel from your local knifemaking supply shop (4mm thick 80CrV2 or 1084 would be nice) and a piece of wood. Also a way to harden it. If you give me more info I can give you more directions. Cheers
