Just confirmed my Dewalt drill can use a 1.5 mm drill bit. Dewalt DC970

For this work I'll hold out for a mini drill or Dremel :-) Just waiting on hobby funds to build up. I don't mind the hand drill in the meantime, its very old school !

Using a power drill wouldn’t offer more control drilling pilot holes in the thin rib wood? One hand holding the workpiece and other operating drill. Could put a stop collar on drill bit to control depth ?

I have a decent drill but the chuck doesn't take drill bits in the 1-1.5mm range. I have been eyeing up a Dremel or Dremel knock off, I may need it later anyway for the metal parts.

@@MattProject I have a set of micro drill bits down to either 1 or 1.5 mm I’ll check to see if works in my dewalt drill. I’ve used them in a pin drill for really small car axles

@@MattProject my DEWALT DC790 drill can go down to 1.5 mm drill bits
