Hi Gerhard! So glad you were able to watch the video, and I really enjoyed hunting with your dad. Did he tell you how we saved a wildebeest that was trapped in the water tank? It was so cool! And I got it all on video. I plan to put it on youtube soon. Tell your dad hi and I'm looking forward to coming back out and hunting with him in the future.

I grew up watching your videos and I'm super glad you're still making them!! Going back and watching them after 8-10 years gives me lots of nostalgia. Also super cool idea!! I wish my state allowed hunting with stone points. Is there a way to get them to pass a new law and allow it??

Billy, its so good to see you keeping innovation alive. I hope your hunting season is going well. I saw a method where a screw in rubber blunt is carved down, threaded and a point was hafted in. I personally tried cutting a large field point down the middle and reprofileing to fit a pannel thickness point. The bade kept warping after each shot. Hafting is indeed so much more tricky to do than beats the eye. I give respect to anyone who has tried making their own arrows. Its a life long skill.

Yeah making arrows definitely is a skill. I've been doing it for a long time and I have a pretty good formula of what I think will work and for the most part it does, but sometimes mother nature throws you a curveball and the arrow you made doesn't fly as well as you thought it would.

WELL as log as he's stealing money from the Archery Syndicate I'm on his side. He's the Oliver Anthony of Archery,... and he just appeared from nowhere many years ago with a masters degree in primitive archery. Self taught? I don't know his story,... just what he share's on you tube. He's at the top of You-Tube and there's several others that are pretty good too. Billy Burger is who I think is number 1.

Obsidian volcanic glass is sharper than a surgical scalpel , these arrows heads sell for £1.50-£2.50 some surgeons prefer obsidian scalpels over surgical steel scalpels.

How did west coast bows get reflex before metal pots? Like your dvd you used a piece of metal. How would someone do that without metal?
@user-mb4se6km5p

Didn't see your reply. I put hot rocks some dirt/water then bow then more dirt water and fire for one hour on top of all that. My shaggy bark juniper bow didn't get anywhere near hot enough and developed a crack I think

Do you know about bending recurve ect, with out metal pots? I'm thinking under dirt with water / fire.
@primitivepathways
@primitivepathways 10 ай бұрын
Yes that would work. I've also heard of bows being put in a trench and rocks being heated in a fire, then dropped into the trench with damp moss around the bow. That would effectively steam the wood and make it flexible. Never tried it, but I'd think that would work.

Hey Billy I live in oregon grants pass area. What stone's can I knap locally?
@primitivepathways
@primitivepathways 10 ай бұрын
I'm not familiar with the geology of that region but if you do some searching I'll bet you could find something that would work. There may be obsidian in that area, or even possibly agate. If you can't fine anything locally, you can always chip glass bottle bottoms. Those are great practice and you can really refine your skills on glass.
