Ah thank you Bullet. Nice to hear Daisy Bell firing on all of her cylinder 🙂 I quite like the white clock face. I’d be interested in the Normandy “must see” video 👍🏼 Urgh! Awfully rumous (?) out there 🥴

"Firing on all of her cylinder" accurate, i'm gonna have to steal that one. 😂 "Brumous" I meant haha. Can't remember where I picked it up from, but Google confirms that it's the correct word at least 🤷‍♂

I love it that due to the engines on our Bullet/Classic 500's being air cooled and overhead valve, they sound broken even when in fine fettle! lol A tour of the beautiful western coast of Ireland would be brilliant to see and maybe you might want to consider a swap to the white Classic 500 clocks. They also show miles as well as kilometres and have all the warning lights etc. You may want to swap out the low fuel gauge clock at the same time if you decide on going the white route, as I doubt this will cost much. Love your videos mate.
@BulletWanderer
@BulletWanderer 11 ай бұрын
Oh man, I hadn't even considered it that I'd have to replace the low fuel gauge clock too to keep it matching, good shout! 😅 After much deliberation I've decided to try take apart and fix the clock myself. If I manage to get it working properly again, then great, but if not, it's already kinda broken anyways so no harm I figure! 🤷‍♂ Cheers Richard, appreciate the comment 👍

Hi Brendan, regarding to the speedometer I would take the same model that you already got (or as close as possible). The reason for that choice is to not disturb the original condition of your beloved Dasy Bell. I mean, changing now the speedometer for something different does not sound as a big deal but guessing that you intend to keep Dasy forever by your side, in 10 to more years you may regret not to have kept she as original as she could be. Remember, those RE 500 are already gaining worldwide a classic status. Nonetheless, of course, she is your bike and it is your choice, the spirit of my advice is just "Think foward to make the best long term decision". Regarding to the spin on the outskirsts of Kilkenny, although the weather wasn't looking too "sympathetic", I must say I really enjoyed the ride. For some crazy reason I like very much to listen to the sound of the water being drained out of the tires when I ride in the rain and I have to do it a lot because I live in the tropics. Summer storms on the last hours of the afternoons and at the very beginning of the evenings are common occurrences here on "my" latitudes. All the best from Brazil.✌
@BulletWanderer
@BulletWanderer 11 ай бұрын
All good points, Felipe 🤔 From a look on Hitchcocks they don't seem to have the same speedometer I have installed on Daisy for sale, so that's why I figure might be nice to get one with a whole fresh look. Still needs more thought though, and I must see if I can fix the one I already have first. 😁 I'm glad you still enjoyed the ride! We have plenty of that same sound here too, I enjoy hearing it from cars driving past while i'm inside and warm... when I'm out on the Bullet, not so much 😆Can't imagine what it's like to experience it out in Brazil!
@felipedourado5721

@@BulletWanderer We, your audience Brendan, are pretty aware that aesthetics, coherently, is a major concern to you. So, despite of keeping Daisy as close as possible to her original apearence or not, I think you gonna make an adequate choice regarding the style of the speedometer. I'm looking foward to be pleasantly surprised by the new clock you will choose to be nestled on its nacelle. About riding in the tropical storms here in Brazil it usually isn't a big deal because they tend to happen in the summer and in a very predictable time of the day (late afternoon and early evening). The major problem we got to deal with is the amount of water that may fall from the sky in such occasions. The heavy rain may flood the roads and also it can be difficult to see trough it in its peak. But normally a couple of hours after the "rain climax" we just hop on our bikes and off we go! But regular and gentle rain during the year offer no bigger problem. And, after all, we are not made of salt, we aint gonna melt. 😉 Regarding to temperatures even in winter if you stay dry wearing a rain suit that's ok because, aside the colder southern part of the country, we won't find temperatures lower than, lets say, 15°C (and just for few weeks). Which equals to say we got no specific riding season. We ride all year round. All the best from the tropics. ✌ 🏖 🏍

Consider me jealous of your 42 HD WLA! 😁 In Limerick you can rent Classic 350s for sure.. not sure about the Bullet 500, but I haven't looked into it to be honest. 😁 You'd get used to the wrong side of the road thing, God knows I did in France 😆

First off, "muggy" = HOT and HUMID. There, with that out of the way I must say, welcome back, mate! You're spot on with the rest of us looking out the window at un-lovely riding conditions. It's cold and windy here in New Mexico...like so windy I'd be leaning Oddball 45 degrees into it to stay on the road. In the meantime, the rear wheel TPS sensor on Fritz remains to be corrected so that's my task for the day. (Bloody TPS systems are just a PITA). For your speedo, I like the white-faced unit and it would, indeed, match your clock nicely. I would dearly love to tour Normandy on Oddball, but it will remain just a dream. So, it's up to you to bring the experience to me across the interweb wires. Just tell any future employer that your fans have issued directives that you are now required to fulfill, and your schedule shall be thusly adjusted as necessary. If across-channel wandering isn't in the cards, head down to Kinsale. I wonder if any of it would look familiar to me as I was there only once and very long ago...like around maybe '91. Cheers, my friend, from me, Fritz and Oddball.
@BulletWanderer
@BulletWanderer 11 ай бұрын
I've had rides that were as hilarious as they were on the edge of dangerous leaning Daisy 45 degrees into the wind too 😅 TPS sensors sound like an expensive problem to fix, hope you made progress with it! If I remember right, Dad had an issue with his RT's rear wheel TPS too 🤔 Kinsale I can do, it was one of my first longer-distance excursions on Daisy when I first started riding, if I get the weather in March, expect to see it again then. Cheers Brian!
@briand4000
@briand4000 11 ай бұрын
I did get a working TPS sensor onto the back wheel and so far, it is working fine. This will be the THIRD sensor. They are temperamental that's for sure. With the smaller tires on Oddball, just a little squeeze by hand gives a pretty good indication of pressure status. Not so the big tire on an RT! It's snowing and cold today, so Fritz and Oddball remain alone on their chargers. C'mon spring! @@BulletWanderer

Would definitely like a video on Normandy. Thinking of heading over on my Meteor 350 this year from Sligo but haven't started looking at iternary or how long the trip would take. I'm newish to the channel but if you were to do a group/channel ride over I'd say I'd be interested as my Meteor should be able to keep up with the Bullet and I've no experience with Ferry travel (safety in numbers).
@BulletWanderer
@BulletWanderer 11 ай бұрын
Cheers Wayne! As I'd imagine most viewers of the video would be coming from Ireland or the UK, I'll include details about ferry travel and whatnot in the video too. Not sure I'll be doing a group ride over there anytime soon, but in regards to the Meteor 350, it would be a perfect machine for exploring Normandy. 😁 General speed limit is about 70 km/hr with occasional 90 km/hr stretches, extremely economical for our single cylinders.

Brendan my two cents regarding your Speedo: If there is a shop that specializes in repairing clocks locally, and the turn around time is not so long, I would do that. If not, I would purchase a new OEM clock, whiteface/blackface is your pick. Uncle Stu had a video dealing with a dim clock bulb fix. I would shy away from an aftermarket clock that is unlit, the first time you ride in the dark, I imagine that purchase would be regretted. Save the old clock, tag it with date replaced & vin number for a day you might decide to sell the bike. Sacrilege I know. Cheers.

Cheers George, there is a motorcycle mechanic in Kilkenny, might be worth taking it to him before I go buying a new one altogether.. Must check out Uncle Stu's video, at least it'll give me a good idea of what i'm dealing with inside. While I'd never sell the bike, still sounds like good practice to tag the old clock, if even just for the memories' sakes. 😄

Why does the speedometer oscillate?
@BulletWanderer
@BulletWanderer 6 ай бұрын
Quite old! If I've been riding for a long day at high speeds, it tends to start oscillating towards the end of the day, think it's just the cable gets hot. This speedo's been replaced though, doesn't really happen on the new one as of yet

Hello Brendan...bulletwanderer, I love your videos, I've got a question, I'd like to take my 2017 classic 500 on a trip from where I live in saskatoon canada to Calgary Alberta 600 km trip! my worries are extended run at 100km per hour, in your travels how did you do with your bike? Nick from canada
@BulletWanderer
@BulletWanderer 10 ай бұрын
Cheers Nick! The most distance I did in one day on the Bullet was from Caen in France to Chimay in Belgium (This video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gn_cnGd7eayGq80) , that was 400 kms going between 70kph to 110kph on average, coming to roughly 6 hours drive total if I remember right? I can't say for sure, but I reckon the Classic 500 should definitely be capable of it, just make sure to bring some oil with you, as in my experience, Daisy burns a bit when running for long past the 100kph mark. Giving the bike a break to cool down every once in a while helps too, not to mention gives you a chance to take a breather 😂 If it were me, I'd probably find somewhere around 400kms of the journey to stay and rest for the night so you can enjoy the last 200kms coming into Alberta, well rested and ready to enjoy the views! I'm sure they'll be spectacular. 😁
