It’s crazy looking back on how they spun this. He left because Lou did something to him. With the contracts they signed there was a NDA in it. So they he had to keep his mouth shout and Haku took all the blame. Also because how embarrassing he must of felt with what happened with Lou.

In hindsight, Haiku asking for $50K reads to me of compensation that Ikaika wouldn't have received otherwise for taking (at least) a semester off school and being on a TV show with little or no pay otherwise. Everything that Ikaika was dealing with now that Transcontinental has been exposed and the hidden layers have been uncovered throughout the years by Lance's documentary, 20/20, and prior show analysis of Lou via "American Greed" on CNBC make absolute sense with everything in context. its funny cus season two and in their current comeback all they talk about is bad deals and how they didnt get money; but in this ep they act like money doesnt matter, an loyalty

They werent gonna see a penny of that photoshoot, good man Ikaika for sabotaging it for Lou on his way out. Of course the smarter thing was to go as 4 then have Dan be photographed and photoshopped in later....

Oh, and good for you Ashley. You DO understand about family issues. First hand and good for you to call him on it. And you weren't nasty, although you all had a right to be. You calmly reminded him that you know what he's talking about and you understand what your asking of him.

true but why did they need him? If a NBA team or whatever other group/team is doing a photoshoot and a guy retires or gets traded or leaves....why does he need to be in it? He's gone anyway and you'll have to retake photos with the new guy on the team anyhow.

I think Ikaika would have stayed but was pressured by his brother to go and he's from a different culture of people.

There was a professional way to handle this and Ikaiku and his brother did not handle it properly with the rest of the guys. After watching it from the beginning, Ikaiku behaved unprofessionally throughout. He should have had the integrity to quit just like Paul did. He signed a contract and made professional obligations to the rest of the guys, the manager and PR guy.

Ok. Wasn't Haku the same guy that was telling Ikaika to do this, to be in this group, "for the family"? I know he did because he's on fricken' tape telling him that. So was his Dad. Now, all of a sudden, it's Ikaika hurting because he should be in school? WTH????

I really feel for Ikaika. You could see he didn't wanna let the band down and felt torn butbhis dickhead of as brother seems so controlling. Still though, 50.000!!!

Unfortunately that's how Polynesian families and culture are as there is a hierarchy. The older sibling tends to make the decisions for the younger siblings but the group don't understand this as they are from mainland United States. But Ikaika shouldn't have gone in for the band really but because of money issues with the family and he had a gift, they thought he could do it to bring money in for his family. But the pressure from his brother dictating to him that he shouldn't continue was ultimately what made him leave. Felt sorry for him really.
