At the Toronto Timepiece show I was able to handle the purple Bel Canto, I really wanted to order 1 but didn't think I would be able to read the time. After handling the original I confirmed i was right. The dial & hands just blended into each other. I planned to hold off until they put numerals on the dial like the special edition for the British show. This current version just moved to the top of the list for my next piece. Thanks for the video.

I've been collecting watches since the early 1990's. Moser, Glashutte Original, Zenith, Sinn... you name it. I was rejected attempting to buy a Polaris Memovox from JLC (no history with them). Then CW announced the Bel Canto, and I was lucky enough to snag a Verde Green. Absolutely wonderful wearing experience! Highly recommended for people that want something different and really!

I like this watch so much. And before you said anything, I thought the new one sounded louder also. For me though, I personally prefer the older one, primarily because I’m not a huge fan of Roman Numerals, and it looks more subtle. Thanks for showing it to us!

One thing I'd like to see in watch reviews, especially for watches that you can only buy online, is for you to spend a chunk of time showing how the watch dances in the light (move it around, keep it center in the camera) and show that in outdoor light, indoor and dim lighting. It would be really helpful. I ordered the Ceilo because it looks great in the photos and on camera, but in-person under certain light and angles it looks way more pale than I expect. Thanks for this video!

I have the black dialed Bel Canto. Love the improvements but am completely happy with the prior iteration. The main thing is that Christopher Ward is evidencing that it is serious about better horology by offering the 12X titanium skelton watch with in-house movement and the improved Bel Canto.

I welcome the new add-ons to version 2 from a watch esthetics perspective, but I still prefer the dial, backdrop, and lume of the original version. Version 1 is a more fun watch.

I own the original in purple, and my feelings are not hurt by this. The new dial is very impressive, but at the expense of greater height. I prefer the original dial with markers. IMHO, where CW could make a sharp improvement would be to darken the hands so that they contrast against the bridge.

I think the roman numerals suit the haute horology aesthetic of the watch but i think I'd rather own the gen 1 with its modern indices and lume. Love that gioche dial thoigh. I really dont know. I'm quite keen to pick one up either way but i need to decide. Swaying to gen 1 though.

I was really tempted to get it out of FOMO, as there is a high likelihood this will be backordered for the foreseeable future, however I don’t really like the dial colors enough to get it, and the time telling part of it is a very small piece. I like to see CW on its feet and look forward to next iterations!

Some nice improvements there, especially the dial and the clasp. I would have preferred the non-boxed crystal it had before, I am just not a fan of thicker watches. When I have some money left, I may get one.

I love the watch. It just kinda bothers me that the actual watch part is so small. The new chime doesn’t only sound louder it sounds “fuller” and just in general better. It’s going to be difficult for me to not buy one.

I think the new one is the better one of the two, because to me the Bel Canto in essence is closer to a dressier-type of watch than a sports watch. And yes, the new one is 10x more legible. It's a beauty. 🤩

The old one also has a minute track. And the logo on clasp is not the only place with said logo. You can clearly see it on the crown and the inside of the belt. Concentrate, mate. :)

I first ordered a purple c1 due for delivery in Oct 2024. I cancelled that in favour of the Andrew Morgan red one which is due for delivery in December having paid £3550 up front. I totally agree that the new version is the watch they should have made in the first place but how come they can deliver this in December. They clearly have been sitting on my money to develop the new version funded by investors like myself. I really want my watch, I love it, but feel that no one should trust Christopher Ward. .

I had to cancel my Bel Canto because CW kept emailing me about delays and I had concerns about quality control, and have read about a lot of people having issues with theirs so happy I made that decision. This iteration definitely looks better, but think they should have made the min/hr hands a contrasting color like red to make it more legible. Given it took a year for the basic version I’m guessing these will take 2 years 😂 No thanks.

I think there are lots of little improvements here in addition to the new party piece dial plus the chime sounds a little richer and more defined. I think they perhaps could have kept the lume on the hands, rather than remove it altogether (even if that compromised their slight redesign)... but that's entirely subjective and a very minor point. All in all, a very creditable and stunning evolution. CW continues to go from strength to strength.

To my eye the Bel Canto ver 1 is a sports watch while the Bel Canto “Classic” is a dress watch. Odd though that they dropped the “Swiss Made” from the dial on the Classic.

Yes! After ordering a classic I’ve canceled and thinking of buying an original version. The mechanism simply doesn’t stand out enough on the silver and gold versions in particular. These do appear to be more ‘high horology’ whilst the green and blue are more sporty and the chiming mechanism is easier to see, but they somehow seem confused due to the guilloché dials.

It may take a while before the watch buying public get there head around, the choice CW made here. They are not trying to keep to the modern aesthetic of the OG, instead they purposefully implemented a "CLASSIC" look. Breguet, Cartier and MB&F do not have a monopoly on use of Romans numerals. IMHO, comparing the industrial minimum design of the OG misses the point. I had the OG on order, cancelled it. now ACT 2 has presented another opportunity. P.S I also like the removal of “Swiss Made” on the Ring.
