I just bought a used D6 locally from a person who bought it a year and a half ago and just didn't have the time to ride it. It's a medium 29er; my height, by the chart, indicates i am at the bottom end of the large scale. The medium 29er feels more like a medium/large, if that makes sense, and the size seems to be just right for someone at the tweener size. The former owner installed a Pike fork, tubeless Maxxis Minions, front SLX brake upgraded to 203 rotor, upgraded the rear MT201 to a 180 rotor, installed Chester pedals, and added Raceface grips. I bought the entire setup for probably what it cost him for the upgrade parts! I am so stoked and feel so fortunate to find the bike. I am an active athletic senior guy and am looking forward to hitting some of the local bike parks on my new Siskiu!

I have the D6 and you are right about the front feeling sketchy stock, however I dont think the fork necessarily needs to be changed. I swapped out the stock ardent tyre it came with for a 2.3 DHR II and it is a game changer, the fork manual states 2.25 is the widest it can take but looking at it should also easily handle a 2.4 tyre. Im planning on getting some cushcore xcs as my next upgrade hoping to further traction improvements and hopefully better small bump compliance. Im approx. 100kg and the stock fork feels much better after I added 5ml of 80W gear oil to it, this is to get the same effect as a volume spacer, this is a really cheap upgrade and worth giving a crack before upgrading the fork itself. Would love to see a budget upgrade to the rear suspension next, especially if you try a 190x51mm shock to see if it works. The D5 comes with it and the rear end geo looks to be the same so I think it should be able to handle a 51mm shock which will add about 15mm of travel to the rear.

I have a 2021 D7 (thanks to your reviews). Swapping to a 130mm Pike Select this year was a game-changer. Also put a MegNeg can on the rear shock which helped a lot and saved $$ over a new one.

Just bought the Pike Select 150mm and it is a really great fork. I replaced a Fox 34 140mm and it is lighter and stiffer. I slammed 2 volume spacers in it right off jumpstreet. Running this fork on Stumpjumper. I lost 1 pound just on the fork change. Swapped my Fox Float rear shock for Rock Shox Deluxe Ultimate. Saved about 1/2 pound there too.

Hi great vid , is it possible to go up to 140mm on front fork , with out to much consequence? 4:01 , like it didn’t seem a big deal to go up by 10mm Would it change the ability to climb or head angles much ?
@bikesonline Жыл бұрын
We wouldn't recommend going all the way to 140mm as it will start to put a bit more stress on the head tube. 130mm with some volume spacers is more than enough for the Siskiu D :)

I don’t think it’s worth upgrading lower end bikes this much. That $1500 spent could have been used to bridge the price gap to a t8, a significantly better bike in just about every aspect.
@churchkidpod2 жыл бұрын
The difference, however, is that the full cost would be absorbed at the time of purchase with the T8. Whereas, one could absorb a much lower cost early on and then slowly absorb the higher cost over time with the upgrade approach. The question here is: is the upgraded finished product superior to or inferior to the stock T8? If it is at least equal, then a deferred payment situation would probably be preferable.
@TheJanope132 жыл бұрын
@@churchkidpod I think you’re better off selling the d6. 3.5k for d6 (2k bike, 1.5k upgrade) 3.6k for t8. What you get for your money is fox 36, 12sp hubs on the wheel set ,slx drive train, 4 piston brakes with metallic compatible rotors, fox rear shock, high end schwalbe tyres. So practically EVERYTHING is better even with upgrades. Sure you can sell the parts from a d6 but whose buying a low end fork? You’ll be holding onto those for a while. Even with selling those old components you’re still leagues behind a t8 in component spec. Better off to sell the d6 at a loss
@bikesonline2 жыл бұрын
Can agree in some regards! Was definitely a bit overkill with the fork. But the D series and T series are quite different bikes. The D is a fair bit more playful and better on the climbs. I enjoy it a fair bit more on flow trails. But as spencer said some people like to buy something more affordable and upgrade as they go and if you love the bike and its great for what you ride, then you might as well keep it :)
@javierRC828572 жыл бұрын
@@bikesonline I agree, the upgraded fork was overkill, a fair comparison is between D7 and D6 with some suntour aion or axon, with the same price point. But it's still a very good experiment put a really good fork on a entry level bike and feel the difference

I just bought the D6 the other day, it’s my first dsus, and looking forward to it and knowing that I can upgrade the forks etc is part of the reason for the D6, I understand the T8 is a different bike but roughly the same price point, how do the upgrades measure in comparison? as the T8 was the other bike I wanted but couldn’t justify the price as a novice rider.
@bikesonline2 жыл бұрын
The upgrades definitely do may it a bit closer but you do still notice that the T8 is a little more supple and composed at higher speeds on rough terrain. But the D6 is a fair bit more efficient and playful, which I prefer on the style of trails I rode in this video. Enjoy the new D6!!!

@@oalbornoz yeah bro I did, I’m super new to the dual suspension so don’t exactly know how things should feel and work etc (think I need a shock tube) But it’s about what I expected it terms softness and ride quality, hand grips need changing and not a whole lot of travel and one gear for hill climbing g etc. it will great for me now until I want to upgrade, maybe different bike maybe change components etc. I haven’t ridden an $6/8k bike to really know the difference, but I’m sure there is a bit. Any advice would be great bro cheers

Nice! I just got the 2022 D7 how would these upgrades compare to the stock D7? I defo thing upgrading the D7 to tubeless but I think I can do it with the stock rims.
@JasonFoxLCB2 жыл бұрын
You can. I have a 2021 D7 and immediately did tubeless with the stock rims. Your biggest upgrade will be the fork, which I recommend. Bide your time and find a used one. I got a 2018 Pike Select that I upgrade the air spring in and it's so much better than the Recon. Did need to get a boost wheel to go with it, so keep that in mind.
